No luck at the dealer. They enabled the LA5 sales code and said "it worked" but then said it was a $150 charge to keep it on. He said the TSB doesn't help because it was not for MY22. He called FCA and they told him it was an optional feature not on every rubicon, but I stepped through the online "Build and Price" and asked him to show me where it was an option and he couldn't find it.

He says if he leaves it enabled FCA will charge the dealership $150 and "someone" has to pay for it: either me, sales or service (and he refused)

I don't know if he's full of it or not.

I wish JSCAN worked to enable it...
Your dealership is not bullshitting you. They have gone to a subscription based service with MOPAR and the dealerships when adding or modifying something that is not part of a TSB or recall.

There is a similar thread about dealerships being forced to a subscription service they have to pay up front and changing tire sizes for a customer.

Not sure what jscan is.... but my JL Mini could not enable it.
If you could put up a copy of the repair order and the line item, with appropriate redactions for your privacy, that would be really great.

It would help those of us with crappy dealer service departments to get them to do this "extra" work.

Pasted below.

I will say, after I posted my message (while still at the dealer) the actual service tech came out to talk to me. He said that for MY22 it may not even work because the entire TPMS system has changed. There is no longer a separate TPMS module, but it's now incorporated into the Radio Frequency Hub (the same thing that controls remotes, etc). I know he's not lying because I read about that somewhere else, but I do not know, nor did he, if enabling STFA would even work even though the other service guy said they enabled it, tested it, and then disabled it. I don't know if they ever did...

I have a feeling your tech did not give the SFTA a chance to show up after enabling it.

When the early 2020 Models came out, SFTA was advertised at launch but early production models did not get it at manufacture. There was a service bulletin a few months later to allow the dealerships to enable it on customer request. I had this done on my early 2020 Rubicon Gladiator and part of the process for it to show up is that the radio and BCM had to go in to a deep sleep mode from anywhere to an hour minimum to sometimes overnight and power back up for it to show up.

If your dealer just enabled it, did a quick check and then disabled it, then it may not have had a chance to show up. In the end, they may still be right on the Continental TPMS system not being able to have it at all, so the point maybe moot.

Enabled with AlfaOBD today on a 9/21 Mojave. Just the 2 settings mentioned earlier. Took around 19 hours to show up in 8.4 but it just sat in my driveway.

It makes 0 sense to me why these trucks have these features and Jeep doesn't enable them.

I also turned on the option to include the hood open switch in the security alarm triggers. Why the hell wouldn't that be standard? There already isn't a lock, wouldn't it be a good idea to include it in the alarm? The BCM has the feature ready to go.

Liking AlfaOBD more and more.

Just wondering, have you actually set a PSI target and get the beep showing the SFTA is actually working? Does you build show the new Continental TPMS system?

What setting in AlfaOBD did you use to do this? I might have to do the same on mine.

Do you need the Security Gateway Module bypass to use the AlphaOBD?
