It's amazing the number of terms come from sailing.
pipe down, toe the line, feeling blue.......
..."Shiver me timbers" "Swab the poopdeck" "I'll have you keelhauled" "... And it's pronounced 'əˈɡrējəs'" are a few other commonisms that come to mind...

I also try to reduce what I carry. I carry lots of soft shackles - you can do a lot with soft shackles --- and if you buy an abrasion resistant sleeve, you can use your tree saver strap as "Gvsukids" said above as a bridle. Something cheap like this ($10) should be enough to allow sliding. It takes up to a 3" wide strap.

THANK YOU!

I've been trying to find an abrasion sleeve that'll fit anything over 2" for a while and finally gave up. The fancy Warn strap that came with my JKU Hard Rock had one on it but I (foolishly) gave that kit up with the Jeep when I sold it.

Do what is safe. I've never used mine, I have shackles and a tow trap point on my hitch. The tow hooks from the factory are just barely safe and better than nothing.
Hey Dan, I think we got gas next to each other at Walmart a week ago or so!

That's a nice option - I hate all that load on the park pawl or whatever these ZF designed transmissions use in them these days. I set parking brake but that's only 2 wheels locked.
If you've got the transfer case in 4Hi or 4Lo the parking brake locks all 4 wheels (assuming it's tight enough to hold at all)! :like:

So I have to put it in 4H or 4L to lock all 4 and pull someone out of the ditch.........
Would rather lock the brakes via hydraulics - much more power than those teeny rear "parking/emergency" brakes.

Oh, no denying that the hydraulic brakes are way more effective, but there's no built in feature to use those without being in the Jeep. Personally I do all my recovery in 4wd anyway.

Correct, I was referring to something like tazer...............
I'm not always in 4wheel anything when I come upon someone needing help along the road.

I'm not always in 4wd when I come upon someone needing help, but it doesn't really take much work to pull the lever.

The Tazer has Rock Crawl – lock all four brakes with a
steering wheel button combo to hold the
vehicle still, especially helpful when off-road
(excl. 4XE)
• lock all four brakes in park to anchor Jeep

Agreed. Even if I think I’ve got traction. I put it in 4H, hook everything up, then get in the Jeep and operate the winch while I’ve got my foot holding the brake pedal to the floor. Hasn’t failed yet, but every recovery is different. From a safety standpoint I’d also rather be in the vehicle if the recovery situation allows it.

Will this feature work if you're out of the vehicle though?

I'd rather be outside monitoring what's going on.

That's what I do........ I stand aside, remote in hand, and watch and listen for troubles and can also help the other person do what they need to do with hand signals.
