So the last one is the one I need . Hmmm 🤔 is one extra quart even worth all the trouble . ??
The drain plug & filter are what drove my decision. I also went with the larger 2.2 added- not for cooling, but for the additional fluid…. More should take “that” much longer to be worn… 🤷‍♂️

Your above point of more capacity = longer cool down does apply. Though, I think the factory cooler keeps it in check enough. 🤷‍♂️

So you pulling with 4.11's I see, wonder why the transmission temps are over 200. Mine has only gotten to 201 one time must have been 90°F + outside. Most of thd time I hover around 195 even running hard. The temp difference in these transmissions and even the engines has never made since to me.. perplexed by this . Could it simply be weather related your area is Arid and dry while mine is humid and Wet . And more northern . That could possibly be the difference.
I was running in the 210-220s before I installed the PPE. I have not been over 200 since. Mostly in the 180s.

For some context. I think my winch impedes airflow to the front grill enough. Also I live where there are a lot of long, steep grades so rpms are always running high.

For those interested, I got the ppe pan installed this past weekend. The pan is very well made and cleared the exhaust just fine. Just make sure you get the pan that is made with the exhaust clearance.

I initially went by ppe's fill directions and had some whining in 1st and 2nd gear. I found more detailed directions on the jl forum someone posted from the manufacturer and used it for my final fill and ended up putting quite a bit more in. All in all I used about 5 quarts and 22 ounces.

I was able to drive it about 4 hours on the highway as well and kept an eye on transmission temps. It would get up to about 190 and back down to 186/188 on the highway. Not sure if that is cooler than normal or what but that's what I observed. Ambient temp outside was about 60f.

One of the great things about this maintenance was that Iam finally rid of a whining that would occur after my transmission would get up to about 180. After it reached that temp I would get a slight whine taking off from a stop. I can't hear it anymore telling me it was low from the factory perhaps?

I have a quart and 10 ounces of oil left so I'll probably order some more this year and do another fluid change to further dilute the old stuff. It's a shame it's not easier to get more old fluid out just doing it youself without special equipment.

Here's the fill procedure that was posted on the JL forum:

Question is the inside of the pan concave where the exhaust clearance was on the inside of the Pan ?

A friend of mine that did that changed the transcooler and lines. I dont see from my research that it is too involved. He also recently did an entire transmission swap and torque converter in another Jeep that He has thats the only real way to get it all out. That sounds close to the amount of fluid as my last change and on the highway at 60F I typically fluctuate between 188-195 so possibly a miniscule amount better. The other day it was 82F and on the highway I got up to 201 just briefly at the top of a 1mile long Hill the hottest I believe it ever got to was 203 at 90+ F summer time on tbe highway.
How many miles @AmosMoses

No. The clearance is just the fins cut down to give the exhaust more room.

Did you have to unbolt and drop down the exhaust cross over or where you able to manipulate it in?
