You have gotten kinda defensive about seemingly minimal things. You made some comment about anti-gun-rhetoric in one of my posts, when really I was just saying I don't want to be involved with trying to control crazies.

Seems like you enjoy seeking out conflict. Just my armchair analysis, but you do you boo boo.
If you think debating...on a discussion forum is seeking conflict I can only assume you've had a pretty sheltered life and have never been in any real conflict? Maybe don't be so sensitive about words on the internet? The post you quoted was a response to a bunch of wildly inaccurate assumptions about my beliefs. Freedom is the right I hold above all others. The only way to guarantee that freedom is people with firearms period. Without that equalizer we are all subjects not citizens.

I think the sheltered person is probably the one spouting platitudes on the internet. Don't get so riled up buddy, its a nice day outside.

Also, doesn't sound super debatey too me. Sounds kinda my way or the highway-ey to me. But what do I know. I'll just crawl back under my bridge for now.

I'm all for debating, but there are undeniable facts. We could go the way of the UK. Ban guns... knife attacks through the roof. Now they are jailing people for having a corkscrew in public? Not attacking or threatening anyone, just the mere possession. Jailing people for posting anything they disagree with. No free speech and no way they'll ever get it back. The idea that taking pictures and calling the police will protect you from a real threat is lunacy but you do you.

That last line sounds vaguely apocalyptic lol. The job of police is protect and serve, i think most do a good job without me going out and playing sherif. Society sounds like a pretty scary place. I'll check it out when I leave my shelter.

When seconds count...police are minutes away. If there's a legitimate threat to you or your family they just won't be there in time. Unless you have private armed security following you around, YOU are responsible for your own safety. I guess that's why we have so many celebrities and politicians willing to take our right to defend ourselves? It will never be anywhere issue for them.

Yeah you right. Got a lot of friends that I've seen go Law Abiding Citizen because of the vicious home invasions they've been victim to. You know the type where total strangers come in the home and wreak havoc. I've never had any friends that fell into the statistically much greater type of violence where its someone they know that wreaks havoc...

20 minutes for police to arrive when it appeared our parents' house had been broken into (went there to do more sorting of their old stuff for a sale).
Here - when my wife called 911, it was almost 30 minutes for a deputy to arrive, and 45 minutes for an ambulance (although we are 15-20 minutes from a town)

Interesting you bring up home invasions. Several studies show increases in home invasions when firearm bans are put in place. Almost as though the potential to get shot makes even criminals think twice about entering someone's home uninvited? Most homicides are committed by family members and that doesn't change when firearms are banned. The 70k estimated defensive firearms uses per year are nearly double the rates of motor vehicle deaths every year, but you still where a seat belt? It's far more common than the anti-gun community wants to believe. Taking firearms from law Abiding citizens doesn't make anyone safer...aside from criminals maybe.

I have no friends that went bad, but I do have a friend who used his gun to save his life during a home invasion.

The bad guys shot him upon entry, in the jaw, he ran to his bedroom, got his revolver, and killed one invader immediately, and wounded the two others severely enough they fled.

This happened in California about 20 years ago.

Fortunately I live downtown, but just 30 minutes away the wait times can get very long. That's the nature of cities. Resources are placed where they are most needed.

Thats a false, misconception. Its just a slogan. Supreme Court actually ruled on it.

https://legalclarity.org/why-the-supreme-court-ruled-police-have-no-duty-to-protect/
Yeah, but those came about from very different circumstances. Due process, rights of all, it all comes into play. Those were more "inside private homes" sorts of things. Restraining orders, child beating and so on. Police can only do so much there, or they risk stepping on constitutionally protected rights of all people.
If you look at the cases that were involved, pretty different from what's talked about here.
