I know a lot of people who drive trucks that cost as much as my house, but I just gave $36.5K for my 2025 NIghthawk. Still a lot, but I couldn't find much cheaper without giving up a lot.
Comparing it to the higher priced units sitting next to it on the lot, I easily decided that the differences had little to no value for my use case. Certainly not enough value for the price.

Basically, if people stopped buying $75K trucks, they'd stop making $75K trucks, but people don't want to give up their heated steering wheels and massaging seats.

Uh, wait until you get Raynaud's or have bad back issues - you'll be begging for a heated wheel and seats. I even use the seat heat outside of winter at times.
Massaging seats? Hyperbole LOl
Right, sure.

You'd be asking a lot of people with various handicaps or health issues to just stop driving.
For some of us, it's not exactly a luxury.

It really costs a lot to make a quality capable truck these days - this isn't your father's era.

Serious how some judge the driving public based on themselves and their own situations.

Sorry, some people NEED those things. There's a guy here, former military, who has Raynaud's a lot worse than me - he'd not give up that heated wheel, nor should he have to - he's given a lot to all of us.
My wife requires certain functions and accessories in a vehicle - due to a birth defect handicap. You'd suggest she stop driving? She's not had a single accident that was her fault, and the only accident she was ever in was as a teen when another woman ran into her.

Nope.
You are correct, some people need those things. They generally understand that they have to pay for them.
Meanwhile, the people who don't need them complain about the price of them, but won't buy a truck without them, which sends the market the signal that "people want more of this and will pay more for it", creating a spiral that drives the price ever higher.

The massaging seats are for real in some exotic cars . But with a shiatsu seat cover there are possibilities 🤣🤣😂

Quote: " Several pickup trucks offer massaging seats as an option, providing enhanced comfort, particularly on long drives. The Ford F-150, Ram 1500, and GMC Sierra are among the models where you can find this feature. Ford calls this feature "Active Motion®" seats, while Ram offers "massage functionality" in their Tungsten trim. The GMC Sierra HD also offers massaging front seats in certain trims "

Holy cow - that's real?

but then, having driven from Sarasota, FL to Des Moines, IA with only a 30 minute break, I can see using those for people who drive around the country a lot.

Yep, I wasn't joking. One of my employees has massaging seats in his Chevy. He only drives the 3 miles to and from work, never hauls anything. He could have saved a LOT of money on a more fitting vehicle, but he just had to have the...I think it was $86K truck. And if he had a more fitting vehicle he might be capable of actually hitting a parking space.

I've had to deal with many that have that problem. :headbang:
Actually a big reason I preferred night shifts.

Couple of my friends talked me into an F350 Platinum. Thought to myself as I started driving home from the dealer “Well this is about the stupidest waste of money ever” …..then I turned on the massaging seats. Life changing. I should note that after my hip replacement my right buttocks and back of thigh fall asleep after about 20 minutes in the car. With the massaging seats those parts don’t bother me at all now.
May buy the massaging seat cover for the Gladiator others have mentioned.

One reason I downsized - parking spots are stupid small these days and navigating a long truck with a horrible turn radius, not pleasant. Iowans will literally fight over parking spots, squeeze in even if it means physical damage to their car (or other cars) and door dings are bad because they've reduced the width of parking spots in many places. Even the tiny Jeep doors are close to hitting other vehicles perfectly parked, can't imagine driving a 2 door car in those places. It's one reason I won't take my Javelin to a parking spot - the doors are long and there's no way to exit the car in parking spots other than rolling down a window and climbing out.
The Jeeps can be parked almost anywhere a lot easier.

I'm on your eastern border, I've seen it. And the full sized trucks will stop half way into the space because they don't know where their bumper is, leaving their back end (and never used behemoth trailer hitch) hanging in the aisle. One day in my single cab Dakota I had one on each side and one right behind me. I had to do a thirty point turn to get out!

Hitches are a pet peeve of mine. More than once I've pulled them out and set them in the people's beds.

2 or 4 door I don’t mind, I make sure to park next to lower cars. If they don’t want to pay attention, their doors will get dinged on my step bars.

White Knuckle sliders stick out far enough that if you open a car door. You will hit the slider. I've already seen one Karen try to slam her car door open up against my JT. When I had my Power Wagon. I seen it happen a good bit.
