Another update.

Drove to lunch with a coworker. Left Starlink tuned on and my phone connected while we ate.

About 30 minutes into lunch, GladiatorLink (as I have named it in the settings) went down.

Checked the data page - I suspect the voltage got low enough that the antenna turned off.

So, with the efficiency loss via the inverter, it will work for about half an hour before it gets unhappy and turns off.

I remote started the truck from inside the restaurant and the WiFi came back on. Proves that theory.

Once it's direct to 12V I anticipate getting a little longer truck off time before it gets unhappy about voltage.
I considered getting fancy and powering it via a time delay relay. So that when I shut the truck off I have internet for, say, 15 minutes before it automatically powers it down.

They ran fiber in our area a year or so ago so we jumped on it. Having the speed and bandwidth are great if you have kids using it all the time. Only problem is when power goes out so does the net. Makes for “fun” times. We are most likely going with StarLink for the house and another for vehicle travel. Best part is with new employment opportunities, Internet can be a write off since it’s primary use is for work. Have to see how the plans work with running a home based dish and another in a vehicle. Probably can’t have 1 account cover both.
Starlink was recently running a deal where you get a home antenna and you would get a mini for free, you just had to keep service on the mini.

Or something like that.

They always have something going on. But you can do it on one account best I saw.

Ouch. As careful as I am, my table saw scares me more than any tool I own. That includes some pretty dangerous tools, that don’t bother me in the slightest. I’m glad it was “just the tip”
You ain't kidding. I got incredibly lucky, mores0 because Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore is both the National Hand Center and the very best hand center in the world. 6 stitches of what looked like 30lb test mono pulled everything back together. The surgeon at the follow up said I missed the bone by a hair. He stressed how lucky I was considering he sees the absolute worst from table saw injuries. He said if I was to continue woodworking as a hobby to get a Sawstop because it's $90K per finger plus a bunch of operations to reattach and Sawstops are a cheap insurance policy.

I sold my 10" Dewalt and bought the Sawstop. I'd post the pics but I'm not sure anyone wants to see the hamburger I turned my finger into. LOL

Far as the discussion on 5G/4G/reception: Here in Central MD there's few places that don't have any signal. I even had enough on Assateaugue Tuesday to take a quick call.

But you're right about Starlink and how its changed the game. I can go camping in the middle of nowhere in Western MD and still be on duty as needed.

We typically have one bar of 4G at out house, if that.

There are several places nearby that we go to where signal goes away alltogether. Which I find hilarious considering I'm an hour outside New Orleans.

Heck, my cell phone barely works when I'm at work unless I connect to their WiFi, and town is only two miles away.

Louisiana isn't 50th for nothing.
I’m 30 minutes from Denver and it’s the same. 5g? That’s hilarious. 1 bar of 4g is our norm as well.

You can send it to me in a PM. I don’t get squeamish. But no pressure obviously. :) my saw is a 1920’s delta. Your dewalt was probably powered by robots from another planet, in comparison.

I can't say I blame you.

At this point in my life, I need something that goes.

If the JT starts to lay down regularly, IT is going.

I might have been crazy cycling through vehicles the way I did, but it helped ensure I was never left stranded all these years.

Keep em new, mod em lightly, don't get too attached.
Exactly! I’ve owned over 40 cars & rarely keep them much out of warranty… just not worth it to me. Recently sold a new Miata that my wife wanted only had it 3 months tilt I got tired lol

I dig that molle system, who makes it?
Amazon Prime Day Special. Picked it up last year. Made by SZYANG...yeah, China. Surprisingly hefty and well coated, zero complaints. They give you enough hardware to mount it on the bed or on a trail rail, so you end up with a lot of extra pieces. The instructions are lacking, but if you know how to turn an Allen key, spatial awareness and know how rivnuts work, you're golden. Lay it out then install. Some reviewers whined because they knew not what to do and installed it all sorts of wrong, even backwards, but blamed the maker, China, everything but themselves. They DO have an install video, no audio (to avoid language barriers) but the video looks like an iPhone project; not very helpful.

I'm not a shill for Verizon, but I typically get signal all the time. My buddy went to AT&T and we can be standing right next to each other, me a 5G full bars, him, no signal.

One of the cell companies had an ad that they "used the same towers as Verizon" and was cheaper, so he was going to switch. I laughed and said, "LISTEN to the commercial... "same TOWERS, not Verizon's equipment !! Just the physical structure. WHY would Verizon let a competitor use THIER equipment ?!?! Even if they did decide to share equipment to make even more money, you can guarantee that Verizon customers come first. Tower gets loaded, non-Verizon gets dropped first.". "You should go into advertising....".

Verizon ain't cheap, but I get a signal.

A couple friends have AT&T. It sucks.

I have Verizon, the ole lady has ATT. We haven't consolidated phone plans. Each seem to have their strong areas.

My work issued phone is ATT so if one isnt working I grab the other 😄

Pulled the “Jee” remaining of the driver fender emblem. I had to remove the p to install the rocker armor on Monday. Then removed the adhesive from 25 badges. 6 from driver, and 19 from passenger, which is currently naked after the body work. Trying to figure out the new arrangement.

A guy I knew up here at our cabin buzzed off three of his fingers on his table saw. Air ambulance flight down to Phoenix and they were able to reattach two of them. His pinky couldn't be saved.

Another friend down in Phoenix, her sister was using a bandsaw and sliced a finger clean off. Surgeon able to reattach.

Taking the Tazer out the other day for my recall appointment prompted me to buy the $30 extension cable. I lost feeling in the tip of my middle finger due to a run in with my table saw so my dexterity isn't what it used to be and it is that much of a PITA to plug it back in otherwise.

I also snagged one of these storage cubbies for inside the armrest. For $8 it was a cheap add on. https://a.co/d/0etTMy9J
My Willys JL was easy peezy. My Rubicon X not so easy, sooo extension cables for me also.

Ouch!!! I hate that some dealerships give you crap about having it plugged in. I've had mine plugged for 4 years no issues with my dealership when I was under warranty.
