Pick up our new Airstream 22FB Caravel. She towed it like a champ. Blue Ox WDH well worth it. Picked up the TT Tuesday and pulled her to the outer banks on Wednesday. Dreams do come true.

Nice trailer. Which model did you go with?
258RKS - we wanted the private bedroom and a convertible dinette in case of guests. Ours was outfitted with the theater seats and we weren’t mad about it.
First trip was earlier this week.

Not today, but didn't have a chance to post! Took her out into some dirt and water for some light wheeling.

Very nice! Now that I have a travel trailer I can't resist seeing what everyone else has. Yours looks great for when we are empty nesters. We need the bunk house for now.

We just booked our third trip to Santa Cruz between Christmas and New Years. We are so loving the glamping life.

Nice. And impressive that someone was willing to take their Subaru through that. Most folks don't realize how capable they are.

I was rolling with a whole MtnRoo crew that day. They are all Subaru owners that go off road. Some of them even go rock crawling in em. Granted...not giant Boulder crawling. We also have a lifted Subaru Crosstrek that does really well.

Sunset run with the dogs and wife, chasing the daughter on her electric razor dune buggy. The battery died a mile away from the rigs so we leashed up the German Shepards and made it a dog sled. Good thing we bring our 4x4 fur buds everywhere we go.

Sweet! We're looking to get an airstream in our future to tow with our JTR also!
Couple questions for you
Looks like the 22FB Caravel has GWVR of 5000# with a 525# tongue weight. We're looking at a Caravel as well.

1) Since you also have a Rubicon and it's rated at 400# tongue weight, can you tell how much the Blue Ox WDH lowered your tongue weight, especially since you have a load of stuff in your bed as well?
2) Did you install a trailer brake controller? If so, which model?

Just trying to do our due diligence to be prepared down the road. Thanks.

This weekend I towed some of my off-road toys to Sand Mountain NV for the first time. All I can say it was night and different than my FJ that used to tow that load.

Yes it’s a Caravel 22FB. I had it CAT scaled. The tongue weight with WDH and gear in the bed of the truck weighed in at 425lbs. The Airstream was loaded with gear but no water in the fresh water tank. My Gladiator has a payload max of 1,119lbs. So that leaves roughly 700lbs for me, the wife, our dogs and such. No problem with the weight. I have a Redarc brake controller. It worked perfectly. The WDH provided a nice level ride with zero sway. The 22FB weight falls well below the Gladiators capacity of 7,000lbs. At times you almost forget it’s back there. I do recommend adding trailer mirrors. And the rear view camera is great. It allows you to see traffic behind you for lane changes because it’s always on as long as you headlights are on.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info! Definitely helps.
Also got the winch up front so slight bit of weight for that too, but yeah looks like you're all set.

What size tires/lift do you have on the Rubicon and what inch drop on the hitch did you need for getting everything connected up level?

37” Nitto Ridge Grapplers with the Mopar 2” lift. The WDH has two length options for the hitch. Due to the height of the Gladiator you will need the longer version.
