I actually came thru unscathed for the most part (soggy carpets)... The white one not so much.. He never raised his dff and TC breathers, both of those got water, He got his air filter soaked, then sucked it into his intake jamming up his throttle body, packed his radiator with mud and weeds and g0ot stuck for a long ride home in limp mode.. There's something to be said for slow and easy vs bouncing off the rev limiter
What's that phrase Forrest said ? Oh yeah, "Stupid is as stupid does.". White Jeep proved that....

In spades.

Yeah... My club calls me "slow", but I never get stuck, never drown the Jeep, and am usually the guy pulling everyone else out. The kids who show up bouncing off the rev limiter never seen to last long. One last week hooked my kinetic to his tie rod, yep, I uninstalled it for him.

Yep, same here back in the day when I was tooling in my 'Zuki. The Jeeps would give me crap, call me slow, call me Doctor because I drive like I'm performing surgery, etc.. I was never of the "shit-n-git" mindset.

I always said the same thing, "If I bust it up, you gonna tow me home ??" Usually got the "take your time...."

2020, on Metal Masher, we got to the top and a couple rigs in our group was sick to death of our plodding along and said they were gonna take the lead on the way down.

They thundered away in the distance, lol.

The difference was, they trailered their stuff in from California and it's just a toy. They run KOTH with an Ultra 4. They like fast.

The rest of us drove in from Louisiana, mostly in daily drivers.

Yeeessh. That was six years and three months ago.

Was it?

WAS IT?

Brb gonna have a mid life panic attack.

We went and picked up about 100 bales of hay out of 1 of the hayfields. I just pulled the trailer around. Someone younger than I stacked it on the trailer.

Ugh I remember those days. I was the one on the ground though. I think they let me drive the Massey maybe 3 times over the 5 summers I worked for em. Older couple. They paid $5/hr and a 50 cent piece every time. Didnt matter what it came out to each of us got a 50 cent piece. Without fail.

One tractor still had the bailer attached. The 1 ton dually has lumber on it and the other tractor doesn't have an enclosed cab so I used the Jeep. It's humid and 90 something AC is important.

I was talking to a friend yesterday about the same concept. He lead 14 jeeps on a well known trail, and had people in his group, honking to get by. So weird. I don’t get the desire to beat the crap out of your rig. Slow and relaxed. It’s not a race.

Yep, as slow as possible, as fast as necessary.

I got a RZR and a dualsport for when I want to go fast. But I still don't beat on my stuff. Most people can believe my pristine RZR is a 2013, it's mint. Probably the best looking on of it's age, or damn close.

My 2015 Camaro SS gets this sort of reaction.

People are a bit surprised its still as nice at is. Like - its NICE.

And I don't do anything special. It sits under a carport, gets washed on occasion. It just doesn't get beat on. My mom's SUV with 260K miles on it is starting to lay down on her, so she's had my car the last several weeks. Living the easy life with a 63 year old woman putting around in it 😂

I always toy with selling it to get something else, but it would be hard to ever replace it.

Most of them are hoodrat mobiles now or got turned into wannabe race cars.
