I am buying in the next year and means 3.6, but was planning on this being my last (52 and keep my jeeps for a LONG time) but with some rumors I have heard I might have to dump it in about 8-10 years. I hear rumors of full electric with small motor to generate electricity. This would give the best of both worlds and do it well. If not I will stick with the 3.6, though a LO Hurricane would be nice.

Yea the 3.0 inline isn't likely until the remodel. I don't think it would be beneficial to do crash tests with a new engine in 2028, then remodel and do crash tests again. I'm all for it and would much prefer the inline over my eco diesel. Of course a powertrain similar to the Ramcharger would also be sweet.. over 600 miles of range and great power and torque. I like my gladiator as it is, but there is room for improvements. I'll likely trade it in for something else next year and wait until the remodel to get back in one again.

If the JT is canceled in 2028 I'm sure there will be a Ram Dakota/ Jeep variant to come to market, but maybe in 2030 or a little later depending on the market. Personally if they just modeled that new Recon into a truck as well, I'd be interested as long as it had all the same removable panels. Of course that would also mean IFS. I'm not a rock crawler, I just like to fling mud and go up steep hills with all my cargo still intact.

would the inline 6 even fit? The V6 seems tight under the hood as-is

If they add it as part of a redesign they can lengthen the front a bit and maybe increase the width a bit to make it fit. They made changes like this between generations before, the YJ is wider than a CJ as an example.

Yeah looks like I will not buy anything new after 2026.

Time to invest in some old American iron

Y'all said the same thing when they mandated seatbelts, airbags, emergency braking, and lane assist 🤣

A government kill switch,,,LOL the Tazer will turn it off. I'll be looking for a change in 2028 or 29. Fun times ahead and many unseen issues can change things. Enjoy today and be thankful, there are no guarantees about tomorrow.
