Honestly I haven’t installed a head unit/stereo in 15 years. Last time I did I had to buy a head unit, an adapter harness specifically for my head unit and my truck, and a bracket to mount the head unit to my truck.

My gladiator had Apple CarPlay, and I don’t know how I lived without. I’m trying to find a head unit for my wife’s car. Issue is, other than crutchfield, I have no clue where to start. The place that I got my stuff from 15 years ago is closed.

is that still how stuff is don’t today? I see w on Amazon with generic harnesses, would I splice those into my factory harness?

thanks!

Hopefully you can find what you want. Major shortages with aftermarket audio stuff.

Crutchfield or Creative Audio are my preferred online retailers.

100% recommend Crutchfield

I've bought some stuff from Amazon - you need to be absolutely certain you know what you're getting. There is a lot of junk on there and there's no support.

Crutchfield has an incredible support; they'll make sure you're getting something that works and they give you far better instructions with your products. I'd gladly pay an extra $10 for a stereo if their instructions and support save me hours of hassle.

I have the luxury of going to their store, since they are headquartered in my town.

I'm just about done with my full system and I bought everything from Crutchfield aside from my 50x4 amp that I got from Amazon since Crutchfield was OOS.
- Kicker 46CXA800.1 Amp for the subs, sending 400w to each 10" speaker
- Kicker 48 CWRT104 (x2)
- Kicker 47 Key200.4 to power the sound bar and knee speakers
- JL C1 6x9 in the soundbar
- JL C2 6.5 in the mantra pods for the knee speakers
- JL C2 3.5 in the dash, left them powered by the OEM alpine amp

I'm loving this set up, I haven't done a system in a car in 20 years and it's amazing where the tech has gone. Crutchfield was great with the million questions I had throughout the process.

Thanks everyone, I'll stick with crutchfield. I really don't "Need" anything right now, roadtrips are done for a few months but I'd like to have ApplePlay next roadtrip.

Crutchfield also. Not always the cheapest but they have the best support and best returns if you have a problem.

I used to buy my stereo equipment from Radio Shack, Service Merchandise, or Silo. You could try one of those places....

...Or Crutchfield.
