Most of mine is in my bed, via an Amazon molle setup. I used to have the rest of it under the rear seat, but just replaced that storage space with two Sundown 8” subs yesterday. So now I have a plastic tote and my molle.

Two questions - are those full-sized, or the "mini" MaxTraxx, and how do you secure them to the Trailrail?

These are full sized, 40” long. They are a knockoff brand and they came with mounts as seen in the bottom left. I got them specifically because all my recovery gear is lime green and I’m OCD like that 😂

Ah, now that I've looked at the original picture, I see there's a MOLLE panel behind them. I assume the panel is connected to the trail rail? Which leads to the next question: Where did you get the panel?

I don’t have the trail rail, these molle panels were designed to use either the rail system or to bolt to original holes in the bed. I opted for the bolt holes. They fit tight and don’t move or rattle at all.

My immediate response was "Iced down in the cooler." But back to the original question, I keep what I need (or think I might need) in the under-seat storage thing in my JT.

That's I do too. I do pull out soft shackles and a tree strap and keep them handy. Soft shackles are hung around the front head rests and tree strap is tossed on the floor board or under the seat for quick access. The rest can be dug out as needed.

I have a old style snatch block rattling around in mortor ammo box bolted to front of bed, several soft shackles in back of passenger seat. A large sports bag in bed with several Al donut rings, soft shackles, winch line extensions, tree savers and kinetic rope. Likely enough rigging I can lift my Gladiator straight up in air if I have anchor points.
Off-topic drift.
A recovery of guy's SUV that was almost rolled over in deep pond. I rigged up with side pull to stabilize as my friend pulled it up and out with his F350 S.D. diesel. The recovery required snatch block off tree down to vehicle no space for a vehicle other than the road he went off and a direct pull would have rolled it over or in deeper along with a tree in front of it. Tip: for the emotional people if your g.f / b.f, ect pisses you off don't do something stupid. Especially in freezing weather, by a deep body of water on narrow trail an the edge of it.

Several weeks ago a buddy gave me a call needing help a tree he was cutting down hung up a substantial size and hight. I got there he had a crappy rope in it to pull it down. Then he tried to get me to have my Jeep just barely put of potential fall zone. Nope my quick assessment is stand off 200 ft for multiple reasons one is better angle to pull down in correct direction. Rigging up, line in tree down as wind started picking up that could have redirected the fall.
What happened during his cutting down was wind started up and he was getting tired from cutting trees. It wedged the saw in the tree. Some people who cut trees down go for perfect cuts and the precision. I go for the cut a tree down for safety and it to only drop exactly where I want it. It'll be firewood not a woodworking project wood. He and his long time friend have a sawmill and mil the wood for boards and projects. :like:
Plan for the worst and expect it, the less you need it.

Harbor freight tool bag behind the passenger seat. Easily accessible no matter really what situation you’re in. I’ve been nose down standing on the brake and nose up on 3 wheels not wanting to move much at all. Having a bag with essentials within arm reach is paramount. This is for straps and soft shackles. Whatever you need to be recovered instantly from a real emergency situation. Snatch block and tree straps and stuff like that you usually have time before you need them. That stuff can go behind drivers seat or in the back.

I used to store my recovery gear and winch controller in a box in the back of my Decked drawer until I gut stuck in a nose down position where I couldn’t open the drawer. So I considered getting the Reaper tailgate storage box to keep my recovery gear in, but I saw a video of a Wrangler stuck at the base of a big rock and the driver was unable to open the back. This could easily happen with the Gladiator. So my question is where does everyone store their recovery gear and what gear at a minimum would you have readily accessible.

In the cabin, with me where I can get to it in an emergency.

So as far as your traction boards, have you ever been in a situation where you needed them on the trail? Seems like this setup is visually pleasing but also, they're on there with four attachment points that could be difficult to undo via standing over the side of the bed and then you have your tonneau cover to deal with too. The rest of the setup seems like you'd be able to grab and go pretty easily. Diggin the green!

Thanks for the post, hit home about grabbing something real quick or someone else reaching in to get it, going to put a couple things on rear floor for quick grab. Everything else will stay under rear seat…..Jack

Just day-to-day, I keep almost all of my recovery gear in the 60% side of my Goose Gear:
  • ARB deflator and Stauns
  • Snatch strap
  • Tree saver
  • winch controller and cable
  • snatch block
  • 2-3 soft shackles and "real" shackles
  • Air compressor
  • Chunk of pressure treated 2x12 for a jack base
Jeep Gladiator Where do you store your recovery gear? PXL_20250530_203317833

I also keep cheap knockoff recovery boards mounted on my cheap knockoff bed rack and a D-handle spade strapped to the child seat tethers behind where my rear seatbacks should be. I also have a MOLLE bag with basic hand tools on one seatback and my first aid kit on the other, plus a fire extinguisher strapped to the rollbar inside the back door and various work gloves, flashlights, and headlamps tucked around where I can reach them.

All that stuff is good to have in the vehicle on a normal day, but it's not super convenient to get into the Goose Gear when our 106lb dog is standing on it. If I'm PLANNING to go offroad, I'll pull out the winch controller, deflators, and a couple of soft shackles and keep them handy. Plus, I'll throw the toolbox with my electric chainsaw in the bed, plus maybe a full size shovel and a pulaski type tool.

Edit: I was just looking for a pic of my dog for another thread and found a pic that kinda shows how I store the shovel.

I’ve been lucky so far and haven’t had to use them. Tonneau cover is super easy to remove, it generally self removes itself on most trails 😂

So I finally settled on this option for now. I got a waste bag from Blue Ridge Overland and hung it over the drivers seat headrest. I keep a pair of gloves, a tree saver, two soft shackles, and a rope pulley. It’s handy, doesn’t encroach much on the dog s area and holds the necessities. There s more room in the bag so I could add a little more. I have a hard case that I strap down in the bed to carry a tow strap, kinetic rope, a couple bow shackles, a couple more soft shackles and another rope pulley as well as a 100 ft winch line, and rope repair kit And line dampener. Thanks to everyone for your input and great ideas.

I keep a couple soft shackles and one tow strap in the storage under the back seat

The rest of it goes in a bin that I ratchet strap down in the bed. I had this one for about 5 years. I got rid of it when I got rid of my last Gladiator, but it was a little worse for the wear.

I got this one for my new Gladiator. It's a lot thicker so I imagine it will hold up a little better, and it's smaller which will keep me from overpacking it as I did with the Rubbermaid. I keep my tools, compressor, large strap, and soft shackles in there. There's still some more room for a kinetic rope or something as well

10/10 response.

I was going to say "in the back of the AAA tow truck."

I'll go with "in a backpack that's sitting on a rack in the garage." Years ago I got a Timbuk2 backpack that was on sale. Never used it. Then I wanted something I didn't have to strap down in the bed or worry about getting stolen. Enter the backpack.
