There are good deals out there! I just bought my New JT Rubicon(MSRP $67,295) for a couple thousand below sticker over the phone in SC. It was an easy transaction. It just wasn’t the color I wanted but I do love black and considering the slim pickings all over the country in the diesel I felt fortunate to make that deal by the end of the year to qualify for the tax deduction in 2021. The used Jeep gladiator price were outrageous.

Nice deal if it was for below sticker.
I'm shopping for a car for my wife right now and one of the dealerships offered me 45000$ for my two year old, 30,000 mile sport S. I paid 40000$ otd for it. Kinda tempting if I'd be able to buy another one, but theres no availability for reasonable prices near me right now.

A few months back I traded in a 2016 Tacoma Sport 2wd for a used 2020 Gladiator Sport S. They gave me very close to what I owed on the Taco so it made sense to me. Although I got myself into a more expensive vehicle, my interest rate went down from a 12% to a 4%. The price difference though was justified in my eyes with the 4x4 alone on the JT.

My wife and I were looking at getting a Tacoma. It was the only "real" option that had what we wanted for options (Gladiator was 2nd thanks to the Freedom tops). Test drove one, I didn't like it. Paired with the ADM of anywhere from $2500 to $10000 with a TBD delivery date... the rest is history.

Its unfortunate but some of us have had to buy in this crazy market. My 2020 Glad got totaled in September with 5K miles. So, I needed a replacement.

I looked at the slim pickings in 3 states. I quickly found out that dealers would lie to you on the phone to get you to drive the 3 hours to then try to screw you over in person. It was the most frustrating new vehicle purchase I have ever made. And, I've made quite a few.

They lied about everything from pricing to "the truck is bone stock, we don't do any modifications" to find out when I get there its on a lift with huge tires, angry grille, huge bumpers, tons of off-road lights and a HUGE mark-up etc. etc. And that happened with multiple dealers.

I despise dealerships and everything related to them.

Anymore they get a little stingy on price when you are not financing. Used to be cars actually were mostly bought in whole according to budget, but as financing becomes main stream the prices and cars have ascended also. The same thing is now taking place in the SXS and atv markets.

As for math I am not a huge proponent of teaching it as a subset of some industry. That type of teaching really led me to struggle when I went to college, once I figured out the principles and theory, I could apply them across the board and even create my own functions.

I do think children need exposed this stuff, but as a tool or weapon to weild. My dealership doesn't even haggle, much anymore. The onlytime we sat at a table on our last car was to sign papers. The sales manager, gives me hell and says I take the fun out of it.

I believe we all are capable of learning what we need and want to. I am a serious hillbilly country doof and I have figured some stuff out.

I only got a Tacoma as a bad financial decision to help my brother with not so good credit. (A decision I regret after he got furloughed and I was forced to continue payments). Truck was fine, but after owning it for about 2 years I couldn't stand the transmission. The tip of the iceberg was when the freeze struck Texas, and learned how limiting a 2wd was. Had it been 4wd maybe I would have kept it seeing as Tacomas hold their value insanely well, but ultimately what put you into a JT is what got me out of my Taco.

Some used car places actually list the original window sticker on their overpriced car listings. This one posted below had a sticker price of $36,625 and the asking price on this completely stock used sport is $45,990. It’s unbelievable to me that people are buying used overpriced vehicles when they can get a better equipped new one cheaper. Is it that ingrained in some consumers minds that used is always less expensive?

I saw something similar when I started looking back early November or so. Absolutely nuts if you ask me. Then talked to multiple local dealers in the Dallas area. Quotes were anywhere from $2k over sticker, to sticker and a $2k discount. (then $1500 in adds) My vigilance paid off eventually, finding a couple of dealers willing to deal below invoice.

But yeah, several $K over original sticker is nuts. You get what you deserve I guess.

I've had two coworkers involved in accidents lately, not their fault, and the other drive wasn't insured in one case. Even a worse time to be in an accident nowadays.

Clearly by the posts we've seen here it's not always by choice, but if you can, hold onto your JT / current vehicle and ride out this crazy pandemic wave. It may go another 2 years as 60% of the semiconductor chips come from China.

And we know all the shipping fun that we've experienced over the past year (my kids play the "count the ships" game as we drive along PCH in Huntington and Long Beach).

Wow, that stinks! I had to drive 3 hours to get mine but it went very smooth.

Luckily, I finally found a Rubi replacement. But, the dealer runaround BS was brutal. Lies, Lies and more Lies.

I occasionally plug in my Willys with under 5k of miles for trade offers and tried Carvana. They offered just under 38k for it in absolute perfect condition. I wasn't planning on trading in anything but that's a laughable offer especially for what they are trying to sell them for. All the other online sites were no less than 43k which I wouldn't take either.

They don't have any on the lots around my area, all are used and marked up. I only paid $37,100 out the door for mine and it has 42,000 miles on it now and they offered me $41,000 for mine last weekend when the wife and I was up at Hendricks looking around. Based on some I've seen on their lot that have nothing done to them that sold for $40,000 with around the same miles, I'll bet they could get $46,000 for mine pretty easily or at least they think they can make money on it. That offer was if I bought something or not and the guy even said if we decided on something on the lot he may could do better. Mines also a Base sport with power nothing.

Does it make sense to justify my expenses like car purchases to complete strangers? Nope.
Like someone said earlier: If you didn't participate in the transaction, then it is none of your business.
