Why couldn't Jeep make the Freedom panels for front and rear?

I assumed Toyota has some sort of patent since I don't see any other trucks with that option. Also, it would probably be an engineering feat to get the glass to roll down and have the top removable. ...but with that said roll down or removable glass would be great!
It wouldn't be that different than many convertibles or even the new Bronco's side windows. The side glass is frameless and seals to a gasket on the top.

I think the original K5 blazer had roll down tailgate glass and a removable top. It would be super awesome on the JT
Exactly! As did the 1st gen 4 runners. The Tundras are common enough I figured it would be a better comparison. Especially considering it would roll down into the cab vs a tailgate, but the removable top shows it works. Just a little more engineering, but I suppose more to go wrong too.

Older station wagons from different companies had roll down rear windows so I don't think a patent would stop application. I think it is related to weight and manufacturing. Weight - while it doesn't seem like much you would add weight for the fixed window guide structure and motor(s). Manufacture. It would take some kind of engineering to make a roll down rear window compatible with a hard and soft top structure because they would probably not agree to do two different cab structures (one for soft tops and one for hard tops). I do think their skytop idea used on the new Wranglers would be doable.

Solution to this would be using the glass window with both the hard top and the soft top. And add in the sky top as well!

Yeah, like the first gen 4Runners (I had an '88) that had the power rear window (my door windows were hand crank) that slid into the tailgate. I never got the opportunity to swap my hard top for a soft top as mine got totaled by some total bimbo making a left RIGHT in front of me...creamed her car and sent it spinning...totally messed up the front end of my 4Runner :( LOVED that car!!!

Why Jeep couldn't do something like that as well, I don't know unless it's a weight issue. There's plenty of room behind the rear seats to make it happen.

Whole idea is pretty cool, though.

put the motor behind the seats, have the window roll up and down like it does on the 4Runner.

The bigger missed opportunity was not having the rear glass roll down like the Toyota Tundra. It would of made the top a lot lighter and given a pretty cool safari feel with the doors off, but still keep the top on to keep the sun off. That was one of my favorites on my soft top TJ and YJ.
Yea just have it in a frame that can be pulled and put behind the seat. That would drop the weight on the roof and make it much easier to remove.. plus you could get a lot of airflow if you wanted or extra space to haul.

I can't believe there isn't some option available for securing the hard top in the bed--some sort of rack for the large rear hardtop piece that keeps it from sliding around. I understand that this would be strange-looking, awkward and temporary, but it would be nice to be able to carry the hardtop with me in the bed, take a nice drive, and put it back on when I arrive at my destination.

Do that, or charge a hell of a lot less for the factory soft-top. It was nearly $2,000 the last time I looked.

Even better would be if the bed was integrated to the body tub like a modern 4 door scrambler with a multi-panel hardtop.... Big dreams. ?

Soft tops suck. My opinion.

Soft top for the win!
I'm skipping the Sunrider for Hardtops altogether... Next spring I'm going soft-top from May through October, then back to hardtop.

If it isn't too much and doesn't leak I'd absolutely get a new hard top that has removable back panels! Best of all worlds.

seems like a lot of room until you consider that the rear seat latches are attached to the cab wall which would prevent the window rolling down. You’d lose a lot of rear legroom to slide the seat forward and get the latch to attach in front of The lowered window.

Had buddy whose step dad had custom ford back in the 80s that had a slide down rear window in a f350. So slide down rear have been a round awhile. My guess is car makes just don't want to engineer it and try to sell it. If more people would ask for it and be willing to pay for it we would probably have it. I have had lots of fully loaded 3/4 ton pickups in the past and would have probably ordered it once but found out that I never used it anyway and then would have not purchased it unless the resale mark required it to be there. No different than my sunroofs I only have them when they came with a package our something, I simply never use them our even have my sun shade open.
