No chance? There's a literal video of a restrained dummy smashing his head in this thread...
Not arguing for or against one side here, I think both are equally pointless, but a child in a properly fitted and tethered car seat does not equate to an adult passenger with just a seat belt on in a car accident scenario.

Also, just to point something out, there are a lot of people here who literally removed their rear seats. I know this is not the common use case for the majority of gladiator or wrangler owners but it does speak to the silly back and forth.

Hell, my first Jeep didn’t even have seatbelts… they were an option in ā€˜65. Reverse lights were also an option.

Right on point, @Mr. Bil…. WTF do I want or need more crap in a Jeep? So I can have more to potentially go wrong when I’m out in the great outdoors?

@bleda2002, I will wait patiently for your ā€œlast Jeepā€¦ā€ thread. I can’t imagine that you’d purposely allow yourself to threaten the safety and security of your family, especially with much safer options for vehicles to take you to the mall. Go find your safe place, and pop your binkie in… WTF is with the snowflakes…
Keep waiting. I'll continue to push jeep to make the jeep better, safer and more capable while enjoying the best jeep they have made yet. I'll also continue to have my kid use a high backed booster to prevent serious injury given the jeeps short comings. Not all of us are content to just accept what's given to us and would rather push for better in the next cycle.

Did you ever read the f***ing manual btw?

Digging in to it more:

Driver with side protection

Passenger no side protection:

Good rating not withstanding (all midsize suvs got a good rating in head and neck), the wrangler performed dead last in terms of head protection for the passenger but first in terms of head protection from the driver. Even the tin can kia and hyundai had lower rear head injury scores (300) than the jeep.
Great find... The "iT's RaTeD gOoD tHouGh" argument kind of crumbles when the literal data for rear passengers (what we've been talking about) is presented.

The mental gymnastics in this thread...

It's interesting to watch people rant and carry on about something they have no control over, and argue because other people don't share their same view or desire to poke at the windmills.

How many airbags, and where they are located, were not a concern to me when I decided to buy a Jeep. I grew up without seat belts and airbags, and I'm still here. I take advantage of them, now, so as to possibly live longer, but their presence or absence doesn't impact my life decisions.
this type of justification is sadly not very helpful

Thanks @bleda2002 and @Mister Lamb. Not sure if @Artsifrtsi is trolling or actually would rather Jeep not offer an airbag to protect his own kid. Opposing airbags because the MAN says you need them is asinine.

Also, the other arguments that basically amount to 'back in my day....' are extremely foolish as well. I wonder if those people wish we were back in the day and age when the average life expectancy was 10-15 years lower than it is today? If they get cancer will they get chemo, or is that only for snowflakes too?

An important disclaimer to add to the Wangler/ Gladiator User's Manual: every backseat passenger should wear helmets and mouth guards . there . done.

We're at seven pages, now, that will ultimately accomplish nothing. If you don't think the Jeep is safe enough, don't buy one. If you think it should be changed, go lobby Jeep Corporate. Ranting about it here, and telling people they don't care about their children because they don't agree with you, makes you no friends.

So says the OP of the thread in a Jeep forum… with zero evidence of actually owning a Jeep.
That is correct. I do not (yet) own a Gladiator. Almost did (had to delay for reasons outside my control), joined Tread Lightly and everything last fall. After a while of looking at this forum, decided to officially join while I was waiting for the right chance to place a custom order. Please show me the requirement of actually owning a Gladiator to be able to post. You are the one replying to this thread with baseless nonsense, while others are actually hoping that Jeep/Stelantis does the right thing.

HA! I literally have 2 batting helmets and a cycling helmet in the back seat right now! (Son and I both play baseball in our leagues)

I expect Jeep corporate actually monitors threads like this or other social media (which I don't really bother with). If they don't, shame on them.

The point of raising the issue (or ranting in your book) is to elicit a response that might resonate with someone who matters.

Also, as I have said in previous posts, I am interested in a Gladiator for many reasons (mainly b/c I am not interested in daily living with a full-sized truck, again, and other mid-sized trucks are just too small), but this new crash video for someone with kids causes me some pause. Not trying to make you or anyone feel bad about your past decisions in purchasing your vehicle, but that doesn't mean that the potential future consumers should not demand improvement.

I am not trying to make Internet forum friends with people who actually go out of their way to argue against future versions of the vehicle improving and having airbags in the back seat which is a simple and cheap way to save lives.

The forums may be monitored by Jeep, but not likely by anyone who has direct influence on the product direction. The important people get summarized reports, that may eventually have an influence.

The changes you would like to see are not cheap and simple, or they would already be done. No one is arguing that they should not be made, just trying to explain why they are not likely to be done anytime soon.

I have yet to see a post on here of anyone that regrets their purchase because they think the Jeep is not safe enough. I certainly don't regret the decision.

If you don't think the Jeep safety is adequate, there are plenty of manufacturers who would like to have your business.
