Would you buy a base gladiator if you couldnt do any mods?

My previous truck was a work truck trim Silverado, so yes I could do it again.
I was going to get a Sport S or a Willys but I ended up with an 80th anniversary edition.
I want to learn the limits of the stock setup before I do anything, and when I do, it will be mostly Rubicon take offs because they are cheap and plentiful, already got take off rock rails and used them.
The one thing I did not want but ended up enjoying was the heated seats/wheel.
The one thing "Base" I wish it did have was vinyl floors, but Jeep only sells it with a carpet.
It's a Jeep, it gets dirty quickly, carpet????

Nope. when I was 18 and had my first Jeep, a 1995 YJ with manual steering, no a/c, and and zipper windows, I couldn't understand how someone could ever buy a Jeep with a hardtop or automatic. Didn't they understand the purity of a Jeep? 23 years later, and I've passed on Gladiators that didn't have proximity locks. I love having the top off as much as I did back then, but if my kids don't have their own doors, and my my wife can't drive it because of the third pedal, it's not worth it to me. Thankfully, Jeep and my finances don't force me to make that decision.

It’s not really the little conveniences I couldn’t do without, I personally don’t like the proportions. I really enjoy just looking at my Mojave in the garage.

Still very much "in progress", I have a proof-of-concept door, but haven't figured out the latch. Zip-ties hold it closed for now, but I don't think that's viable long term
.And running boards, easy as could be - except for the brackets. Hoping to find something off-the-shelf, but may have to have them fabricated; I don't weld
Someday, maybe a flatbed with stake-sides, but that is just a daydream now. Thinking dark red mahogany 3/8 panels & lumberyard 1x4 running boards, with light-colored (maple?) frames. Do I need a "build" thread?

Drove to another state to get my stripped down Sport Max Tow. I did not have plans to modify it at the time. So ... Yes, I would.

In stock form my Sport S was the most capable vehicle Ive ever owned. Only mods I have are rubicon take offs and I don’t see ever going past that. If I had to stay 100% stock I would, the only part that would bother me would be people asking me when I’m going to lift it and put tires on it.

Without modding, no.
However when I was first looking to get one (June 2019) only $63-65k Rubincons where on lots, so I ordered a Sport S exactly the way I wanted it knowing I would put some money into it and still be way under that mid $60k cost. I leased mine and saved roughly $300-350 a month going with the sport and have modded as money has allowed.(Lift, steps, wheels/tires, 8.4, led heads, fogs and tails, Rubi fenders, intake, tazer, pedal commander, Rubi suspension with original lift, exhaust) Everything bolt on so can/will be able to remove all to return unless I go the route of selling/trading in if the deal is right.

I have to say I am surprised to see someone buy a base max tow with truly no mods planed.Drove to another state to get my stripped down Sport Max Tow. I did but have plans to modify it at the time. So ... Yes, I would.
I really see those as jeep mod starter kits.
Had a local dealer that ordered quite a few like that, under the assumption folks would buy to mod.
I assume you needed that extra towing capacity?

My base sport with max tow , just waiting for some LED tails to hit marketplace after Oracles and myb some rubicon fenders/ led headlights.

I am building a YJ with 1-tons and a 6.0L, so I wanted to Max Tow for the extra towing capacity to tow it (and extra parts) around. I also wanted the wider D44 axles, larger alternator, and improved cooling system. I like playing "tow truck" during our PA winters too, and have rescued many cars/truck from ditches, including pulling a few 18-wheelers onto dry ground.

No, I think the base looks like blah. Wouldn't pay that kind of money if I had to keep it stock the whole time.

Yes as that is pretty much what I did other than got Sport S Max Tow model with just the base equipment package. Since then all I have done is changed the tires and some lights but I would be very happy driving the JT as stock its a very capable vehicle.

Would still do it. I almost got a model with no power windows, etc as I wanted it to have the least amount of electronics stuff to deal with or break down. Since I am older in age and kids, etc have grown the truck is more for me now and family needs are not necessary.

Yep - if that's what I could afford then I would but the base Gladiator. Don't want to offend anyone who bought all the bells and whistles but a Jeep in any form is a win to me. My first Jeep was a base TJ with air and my family still has fond memories of that vehicle. To be honest I still compare every Jeep I buy to that one, for the fun factor alone.
