Why the fuck do people keep trying to get me to watch Eddie oh douche nozzles videos. I won't deal with anything that douche bag promotes and he won't make a nickel of add revenue off me. Part of being a long time jeeper is knowing what a massive tit that idiot is and I'm pretty sure there is still a bounty on his rat tail. I remember the horrible things he's done to Jeepers.
putting all the drama To the side as I’m truly curious and wanting to learn about this issue. What is your opinion about the steering box moving when you move the steering wheel back-and-forth and it’s more accentuated when you have larger tires and a bigger lift?

I don't think it matters. Does it do it when the vehicle is moving is a better question. The amount of force applied to the section is dramatically lower when the vehicle is in motion. It could cause premature wear to the box over time but I haven't seen a single jeep with a steering issue not have something out of spec. If EVERYTHING else is working / set correctly it could be the issue but there are so many people between the JL and JT on 37s and 40s with zero issue that I can't help but think their is another issue.

Just read through this thread and if you want to come out to where I live I can show you the dead spot in my box. Input shaft movement with no sector shaft movement (two inches of steering wheel movement). No amount of air pressure settings will fix. Dealer will not do anything, waiting on after market to make better boxes as some are getting boxes replaced and problem returns.

I'm honestly curious about the drama behind Eddie and his forum/YouTube channel. I'm seriously not trying to instigate anything.

I've been a Jeep owner now for 1 year and had a Wrangler JL, now a JTR and a Trailhawk Cherokee. I love Jeep. However, arguably the 2 biggest Jeep forums for the JL and JT despises this guy. Why? I've learned a lot from his videos.

Regarding selling out and only showing sponsored/free gear he receives, isn't that the same as Litebrite, TrailRecon, JK Gear & Gadgets channels? I subscribed to all of their channels to learn.

Really curious about why all the hate Eddie receives.

If you were to go to say: JKowners forum and looked up a thread (Have you been banned) and had time to read a million posts you’d be well informed. There’s also a thread regarding his treatment of people on Wayofgay forum if the first one isn’t enough.

Perhaps your'e not setting your sector shaft air pressure correctly? I had mine done with NitrogenTM. and now it drives like a champ! I've heard that if you fill it with helium it will lighten up the steering, but I have not had the opportunity to try it yet...

All kidding aside, it is 100% the box in mine too. Dealer said it's normal, but there is still tons of slop in the gearbox. I go from 11-2 before any movement in the pitman arm. Some guys are adjusting the lash and having good results and others are not. There is an untapped market for a box that will work with the factory pump.

Sector shaft preload adjustment helps a lot of this. I agree there should be a market for steering box and pump upgrades which don’t require switching to a belt driven pump.

LOL - that's funny. You speak double-talk with your volume stuff while I have science and examples behind me.
You are the one struggling when you say people don't get what you say. There's a reason - it makes little sense.
Shade-tree stuff.
OK all you know-it-alls, just tell me what pressure I should be running in my 35x12.5x17.

I do not have the steering problem, no drifting, no steering slop. My girlfriend also drives the truck and she has perceived no issues either.

Just for reference, I checked my JT Rubicon manual with stock Falken Mud Terrains inflated to 37 psi. At fwy speeds, if I move the steering wheel approx. 1/2 to 1 inch, the wheels turn and the truck turns. If someone would like more precision than that, I can try to get it for you.

There's no one PSI fits all - what does the tire maker say? The tire seller - based on your vehicle weight, of course.
There are tires with stiffer sidewalls than others that will act differently than tires someone else has with less stiff sidewalls - like you'd run different pressures than they do for that alone.

Why doesn't anyone check with the makers of the tires who have only tire life and warranty in mind?

My Overland is lighter than a Rubicon so I'd run less pressure in the same size and BRAND tires on a Rubicon due to weight alone.

Start with the chalk test as a "starting point" and go from there. Again, some tires that does a good job, others not so much, based on the tire itself.
If I based my pressure on that I'd have too much pressure in my stock tires. Others have good luck getting them at least close.

At 4000 miles I fixed my steering problems. I tried tightening the steering adjustment, it helped, I tightened the box to the frame, it helped, but, the frame still flexed and it still drove really awful. I fixed it after a month and a half of ownership Sunday, by trading it for a Power Wagon. Now I can drive with one hand and even take my eyes off the road for a few moments even in a wind storm. I still have my TJ that drives great as well. Jeep should issue a recall on these and fix the frame flex. My box would move a half inch before the wheels would begin to turn. Totally stock Rubicon!!

Good luck to all and see you around.

seems to me that these items don't apply to almost all folks here who have a dramatic steering issue on their new, stock JT.
I swear that at low RPM's our Overland has issues with loose steering. OK my example: I'm driving the interstate at ~ 65 MPH @ ~ 2000 RPM's and I'm constantly readjusting the steering wheel left or right ~ 10 -15 degrees on a straight away. All my other Jeeps (8) didn't have this issue. At a dealership a senior tech. agreed with me after taking test rides. The tech and I took another new JTO out and it did the same. Sorry but there a window that I feel should be addressed. Tom Edelman Western NY

So what is the dealer going to do to fix it?
