Stock sport 2 door wrangler yes. Any era. Anything bigger than that probably not. More seats/space mean more distractions for inexperienced drivers. Driving has gotten significantly more hazardous since most of us were kids learning to drive.

Had three kids, each one’s first vehicle was an older Jeep (TJ), wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.

My first vehicle was a 1978 Cherokee at 16. Then I got a CJ-7 at 17. I do remember having a Jeep at that age definitely makes you respect how a vehicle handles on the road. They are not as forgiving as a typical car.

This all depends on the capability of the 18-year-old. Some 18-year-olds are very capable of driving very safe, and some no way! This applies to a Wrangler, Gladiator, or any vehicle.

While I don’t have any children of my own, I’m Uncle to all my friends kids. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, kids nowadays have an attention span of a drain fly. The wrangler is a vehicle that demands all of your attention.
