Who’s got 5.13s or 5.38s?
What tire size are you running?
What Engine?
AT or MT?
Why that gear ratio?
Are you happy with the choice?

So far, I am very happy with the gear choice. I immediately got back the engine response after the swap from factory 410 gears.

I went back and forth between 4.88s and 5.13s. My installer suggested the 5.13s. I went from 3.73s to the 5.13s and really like it.

There's tons of info on this site including multiple posts of the spreadsheet you'll want to review to help you decide what gears you should run on 37's, etc. Do some searching and you'll find all the info you need.

FYI: I went with 4.88s to spin my 37" Toyo Open Country AT tires
Thanks but not looking for info.
Looking to have conversations as to what others did, why, and how they feel about the choice.
Since we can’t all jump into similar trucks with different gear choices for a test drive, this conversation might prove interesting to those undecided and affirming to those already changed.

Anything 37-40 should have 5.13-5.38.

35s can do 488s but who cares at that level?

Those threads will give you what you're looking for. Try them unless you're looking for attention with your own duplicate thread

I’m in my build process. Which has become a stash my parts until I have all of them and the balls to spend 4 grand for gears and lockers.
so far I have a Clayton 2.5 lift and bilsteins. I’m waiting to see if tires come down to grab a set of 37s.
Im being extremely picky with the wheels I want as the “ones” went up like 90$ a wheel ?. When I’m ready though I’m going 5:13s no doubt. I live in the mountains of north ga so I’d like all the tourqe I can get.

I will say I’m on 3.73s and I’m going to do wheels and tires first so I can see the difference once I regear. I’m excited!

Are you saying 35s are not really worth doing or not worth regearing for? Just curious because regearing opinions seem to be all over the place. Last weekend i met a dude running 38s on his 410 gears and he loves the way it drives.

That’s a guy that hasn’t had any experience with gears. All the “4.10s are fine” folks don’t have any experience.

To me 35s aren’t worth it. There’s no value in those tires anymore. But with 35s there’s no value in regearing too.

Agreed, unless only putting larger tires on for looks. If really using it, 35’s might end up falling short.

I went 5.13s with my 37s mostly because my rig sees a lot of off road, I am ok with pretty lousy mpg, and those will fare ok when I eventually go with 38s. 5.38s would have been too much I still drive on the highway and 70 is about as fast as I want to go as rpms around a bit over 2500.
