Well I just finished building my dream gladiator and I suddenly have to go overseas for few years for work.

I am tempted to just store it but the idea of it getting no love and the warrantee running out is a bummer.

There is a full list of upgrades in the for sale section.

Im just here to pout.

Depending how long you’re overseas, storing it isn’t a bad option. I’ve stored a truck for a year. If you store, look for climate controlled interior storage. I’d recommend putting some lubricant on some rubber/plastic parts before leaving. You can leave the weight on the wheels or slightly jack it and place on stands. Have someone drive it monthly for a few miles if possible (don’t worry about jacking it then), if not disconnect battery.

Not to get too off-topic here, but ...

Although it might seem like a good thing to do, short drives during storage is a really bad idea. Moisture and fuel actually get into the oil and unless you get the oil hot enough for long enough, they will not 'burn off'. While modern engines do heat up quickly, it still takes a lot longer than you think to get an engine up to full operating temperature.

Been there and done this.

As the others have said, put in a climate controlled facility.

The prices on the JTs are only going to continue to go up in price; not to mention the labor and parts cost.

That is nice setup. I would vote to store it.

There is plenty of interweb pages on how to long term store a vehicle and what to prep.

I would assume you would be back state side ever so often? If so, you can taken it out of storage condition and exercise it that bit of time so it is not a complete down time storage for the whole length of your absence.

You can find dedicated covered and locked storage units with electrical for things like a trickle charger that are tailored to such needs.

There's nothing you can do about the warranty clock ticking, but depending on how long "a few years" is would drive my decision. 1-2 years, prep it for storage and find a climate-controlled facility (especially in Fla with its salt and humidity) and view it as an investment. Longer than 2 years, and things start to break down and dry-rot etc. At that point, I might be inclined to sell it. Tough decision as it's a beautiful vehicle.

what a beauty! No way someone in the family cannot use it till you get back? Someone who would baby it?

If not, store it. I stored my car once for 1.5 years. Had absolutely no problem taking it out and using it when I got back. Just make sure you take care of all steps when storing it.

Selling it is the right move. Invest the money to hedge inflation. When you get back you can get a brand new one with all of the new options, hopefully including the 4XE or the Hurricane, depending on your preferences.
Worst case, they stop making them and you buy a gently used one and pick up where you left off, with more money from your investment returns.
Well, that's not actually worst worst case, but we can't talk about politics here. LOL

"Suddenly" have to go overseas for multiple years? REALLY?!?!

And...don't let warranties ever help you decide anything.

I wouldn't let it go. I bought my Willys 2 years ago for 43k and now the same package with fewer options costs well over 52k. Also, I don't like the path the auto industry is going.

I had to move overseas for two years not too long after building my Gladiator. I decided to store it for a little over a year. Visited the states this past summer and pulled it out of storage. Now its being looked after by a fam member. I'll be headed back this summer and am looking forward to hopping back in the drivers seat. Oh and I have some parts waiting for it :)

Thought of selling it too, but with the market being what it is and all the mods, its better to keep it. You have a nice Jeep, but unless you return it to stock, you'll lose quite a bit of money on it.

Good luck on the decision.
