Congrats everyone, we all officially own collectibles with Jeep now discontinuing the diesel as posted in this thread:
https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/...er-gladiator-4xe-phev-replacing-diesel.70496/

Now to find out just how collectible we are. The only source I could find is recall info for our HPFP which shows:

7,554 Gladiator Ecodiesels produced between 2021-2023

With the stop-sale going on I can't imagine there will be more than 9,000 total.

Just for reference, my other fun car is a Honda S2000, which is considered rare despite them making 66,860.

Hopefully we don't see the negative side of this with part shortages due to our 3.0 being present in the Wranglers and Rams, but if you want a diesel off-road Jeep truck, there is officially less than 10,000 of them that will ever be in existence from the factory!

Here's mine ?:

I've got a lot into mine but have been on the fence about possibly moving it for another recently discontinued vehicle. With the recent news, I might just keep it. I have yet to see (or hear) another EcoD wrangler or gladiator in all our 50k miles worth of travel on and off-road. I've likely passed a few unknown, but at this point it feels like they are extremely few and far between.

I had a 2015-2018 Kia K900, of which they produced less than 5.5k in 4 model years in the US. I also had the far more desirable 420hp V8, plus the top of the line VIP Package. If i were to hazard a guess that car was probably one of less than 2.5k in that trim/engine combo (they produced a lot more V8s than V6s, but the VIP package was more rare).

Things only become collectible if they are desired to begin with.

Frankly i think Jeep just did a terrible job making it known a diesel was even available on the JL and JT. It's very surprising that the manuals outsold the diesels 2:1

Doesn't help the 2nd gen motor wasn't exactly the greatest. Which is a shame because people get quickly scared away if you just do a blanket search for "ecodiesel". I have no regrets and I'm happy I have something unique. Always makes me happy to see another one in the wild all though few and far between.

I'm more bummed about wanting another new Eco Rubi JT in about 3-4 years once this one gets up in mileage. This is potentially the last decent strait axle mid sized truck that can comfortably do some work?

I had planned to order a new one once they announced discontinuing, but thats not really looking like an option now?

The diesel is the absolute best powerplant for the JL and JT. I liked my JL Rubicon so much I bought a JT Rubicon too. The fuel mileage and torque are a great match with these vehicles. It is a shame the Jeep didn't promote them and this is the end.

I'll chime in with my low production run vehicles in my garage and driveway.
To qualify for posting on this site, 2021 JTRD.
My guilty pleasure, non garage queen, driven like it should be 1999 BMW M Coupe. 4 total years of production and only 4000ish total built. A rare bird and an absolute hoot to drive. It is a shame that the car is one of those irreplaceable models that the more you enjoy it the sooner it becomes worn or parts are no longer available. Never have I had another vehicle that has that "never sell it" feeling (anyone who has ever sold one has regretted the decision)

You already know what a JTRD looks like.

Yeah, I got caught in the VW dieselgate. Still kicking my self for selling out to VW and turning in our Audi A3 diesel. That thing was awesome. Not going to make that mistake again the the JT.

Our plant engineer kept his WV diesel. He wouldn't let anyone touch it. He said that he would be buried in it.

I'm sure those recall numbers are US only, I remember reading all European models are diesel. Hopefully there isn't many differences so global demand for parts will be enough to warrant continued supply.

Love the clown shoes. I always wanted an E46 M3 and a diesel Jeep. I have one now I just need the other.

I tried to buy a JL diesel a few weeks ago. I could pay for it but couldn’t take delivery until there was a fix for the recall.

This reminds me of the 68RFE recall on the HD trucks where the transmission dip stick would blow out. RAM couldn’t sell 2500 - 5500 HD trucks with the Cummins / 68RFE until a fix was found. Three weeks go by and they not only found a solution but had the TSB and repair orders published in 15 languages.

If Stellantis wanted to fix this, it would be fixed by now.

Care to elaborate on how? They don't manufacture or have direct control over the fuel pumps. There's a very real shortage of replacement parts available, and not just for Jeep.
