This is probably been ask but, here we go. I "believe" I understand the differences between max tow and non max tow, but I know I could be missing something??? But if buying a gladiator that your going to rip out all the suspension, control arms, springs, and change front/rear gearing out anyways, is it worth buying the max tow? Is max tow really only 1 inch wider? Is that really worth it? Im looking at the Rebel Offroad Front coilover kit with rear spring kit with king coilovers up front and king shocks in the back with teraflex long arm kit. So is just going with a non max tow going to be okay, or should I still get a max tow? Is there some extra strength that comes with the max tow? Thank you for all your help....

I may be mistaken, but the max tow comes with the D44s with the beefier tubes like the Mojave and Rubicon

All Gladiators have Dana 44s. The max tow along with Rubicon and Mojave have the wide track version of the Dana 44.

Yes but I was under the impression the wide axles had thicker tubes than the non Wide Track

You want a factory Tow Package for the electrical and cooling upgrades. The wider axles are supposed to be better. If you are going to be tearing it all out, Max Tow is just an additional expense over the standard Tow Package, unless you want those axles.

Wow, thank you for all the replies so far.... Im curious if max tow actually has thicker tubes or is just wider? Anybody know how much wider it truly is? Mr. Bill are you saying just get the tow package and not the max tow then?

I think it’s comes down to the axles, 4.10 gears instead of 3.73 and the width is nice if you are keeping the axles. You also will have higher legal payload capacity as what is on the door plate is it. Sounds to me like you are going big and doing at least 37” tires, and past that a lot of people go with Dana 60 axles, at that point you would be tossing everything that is max tow but the data plate on door……Jack

To date, it is strong internet hearsay that gets repeated a lot but no one has ever posted any pictures showing the physical measurements or published data from DANA confirming it.

Supposedly Dynatrac confirmed it but closest I found was more hearsay from somebody that knows somebody at Dynatrac.

I would go with the Max Tow package, especially if you are going with a lift and bigger tires. It also depends if you are buying off the lot or ordering. I would not buy unless it includes a factory installed Tow Package.

If you are actually going to be towing with it, that presents other issues. Any changes made to the factory suspension will affect the actual towing capability of the truck.

I don't plan on towing with it, as I have a Chevy truck with the baby turbo duramax diesel engine in it if i had to tow something, but I also have nothing to tow at this point ha ha ha

3/4" wider per side, 1.5" total.

Based on all the reading I've seen from press conferences and Jeeps website the only difference in the axle is the width, not the thickness of the tubes.

Differences are simple, wider axle, 4.10 gears, larger alternator and cooling.

Might be worth it for the gears and cooling if you are rock crawling. But if you are gong big and need more than 4.10 then only the cooling is there and up to you if it is worth it.

Thank you so much for all the responses... I heard the extra cooling is just a larger fan? Does this make a difference going with the diesel engine option?

You won't have a Max Tow option.
