Taking UOA results will be helpful. It's a good way to know how your wear numbers match up with others. That is just beautiful. I change my oil so frequently that I just use whatever's on sale and meets specs. My RAM EcoDiesel (Deleted) the oil is insanely clean even after 7,500km. I'm about to start doing oil analysis on my Gladiator as well to start monitoring that after the EGR delete.
Ya, I read all that, but when will you share the actual facts here??? That's what we all want! ?Taking UOA results will be helpful. It's a good way to know how your wear numbers match up with others.
What we've found is that Pennzoil Platinum, for example, is good for about 6,000 miles before it shears out of spec. According to lab reports, even though Pennzoil Platinum shears out of spec, it holds up really well to oxidization. One of the tribologists said that's because Pennzoil Platinum can run at 270*F all day long and not breakdown and oxidize. Some of the other oils, like Rotella T6, starts to breakdown and oxidize at 250*F degrees.
The oil temps in the Gladiator EcoDiesel run pretty hot. When I was driving through the mountains, I saw 248*F in the Gladiator without towing. For reference, I towed over 500 miles last week in my 2020 Ram EcoDiesel. In mountainous terrain, the hottest oil temp I saw was 242*F pulling nearly 8,000 lbs in cruise control.
The truck was actually towing in 4th and 5th on the steep grade, but the highest oil temp was at the very top of the mountain where it shifted back into 7th, which is when I took the photo.

That's just awesome! So much hate and misinformation left over from the 1st gen failures?Well, I better start backing some of my posts with 'facts' or I might get called out for being a liar again, lol.
Here's the latest update I received this morning.

I run Pennzoil Platinum so that's good to hear! I change it at about 7,500km / 5,000 miles.Taking UOA results will be helpful. It's a good way to know how your wear numbers match up with others.

LOL. I hope he calls them so they can just be like wtf is this man on.Gonna be a long drive from FL to Toronto,CA to see that dealership.
Well, the 1st Gen was sold in Europe only (2011 - 2013). The 2nd (2014 - 2019) and 3rd Gen 3 (2020 - 2023) were sold in North America. The 2nd Gen had a high failure rate due to tolerance stack-up/assembly issues. That's just awesome! So much hate and misinformation left over from the 1st gen failures?
5,000-mile intervals are probably a good idea. Here are my UOA reports with Pennzoil Platinum. The spec for 5W-40 is between 12.5 - 16.3 cSt. As you can see in my reports, the oil has sheared down to the 5W-30 range.I run Pennzoil Platinum so that's good to hear! I change it at about 7,500km / 5,000 miles.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, we have a guy in Florida that has 433,323 miles on his stock engine/stock tuning the last I checked.I so wish we could delete and not kill the children at the same time.
How many engine hours is that? Here's a follow-up. He turned 500,000 miles today.
