Last night, in the middle of the night - the Gladiator honks twice and remote starts up. Is anyone else experiencing similar?!?! No FOBs in play, no close neighbors (rural area), no intruders - no nothing. It just remote starts up by itself. I have noticed the last week that I'll occasionally hear a single "honk" from the garage, but last night was disconcerting.

I've had the Rubicon over a year and never had this problem until :

- I got a lift and 35's and had them put a mini taser in.
- I ran ONE of my FOBs thru the wash. But I cleaned it thoroughly with 99% alcohol, REPLACED the battery, and it has been working "as expected".

I'm not sure if either of these incidents has anything to do with the random honks / starting. Anyone else experienced issues like this? Or do I just have a ghost in the house?

Oh - and a couple of questions:

- If remote started - how long will the gladiator "run" without the human "start process". I'm worried that if I'm not at home it will just run and run....
- Is there a way to disable "remote start"?

Hope I can figure this out.

“Normally” remote start only runs 15min then shuts off.

But also “normally” it doesn’t do it on its own.

The JT can go through 2 remote start sessions, each appx 15 minutes long.
After second remote start session, it has to be manually started before it can remote start again.

The fob that was washed, take the battery out of it and see if it happens again.

This is the way. I am willing to bet there is a short in the remote start switch for the FOB

I suspect your key fob is borked. Despite cleaning it with alcohol, electronics don't like water and particularly don't like water with contaminants like soap. Try removing the battery from that fob and seeing if the problem repeats itself. I suspect you will need a new key.

Well I think she misses you and is trying to get your attention. She wants to go out and play.
Let me ask you, do you just park her and just walk away ?
I always look back at mine and smile.

One would think that Jeep, being a brand of 'outside fun' would make their FOB electronics IP67. I guess not....

All good thoughts, but the remote is far enough away from the garage that I don't think it's in play. Still, I will do as suggested, and pull the battery out. Will see how things shake out and report back. It's intermittent enough that it might take a couple weeks or longer.....

Still....not 100% ruling out ghosts. :)

Something similar happened to me last year in California with the JTM I rented. Was sitting in a winery in Napa for a good 45 minutes and someone comes inside to inform me the truck was running. My better half and our friends all confirmed yes, it was certainly off when we got there.

Getting out I locked it, it was certainly off but it remote started on its own and the 15 minute interval setting didn't turn it off, either. Fortunately it didn't happen again but gremlins can do their thing from time to time.

Far enough away is relative! My alarm goes off when the fob is in my pocket and I'm in the garage and accidently trigger it. The JT is on the street 75-100ft away.

Did you buy it used or new? If you bought it used the previous owner would still have access to the Sirius Guardian/Jeep app unless you called and had it updated to your name which would give them access to lock, unlock and remote start from anywhere.

I bought it new, but thanks for the thought.

Anyone had any issues with their Tazer Mini?

My Fob when through the washer and dryer three years ago been fine!
I would suspect the fob and take battery out and see, then put it back in after awhile.
