My Falken Wildpeak AT tires are at 45k miles and have grown louder, to a point I’m not appreciating them—neither is the wife. I drive 98% on pavement, long drives. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good highway tire that is quiet and has good wet traction in a 33 or 35 for my 17x8.5 wheels?
I recently posted an update on the Goodyear Duratrac RTs on my '23 JTOD. I went with the P275/65/r18 on stock wheels. I have now put 10k miles on them, mostly mixed city/highway, light off-roading, and could not be happier. No visible signs of wear yet. They are quiet, great in the Florida rain, and had very minimal impact on fuel economy, still averaging 26-27mpg in mixed driving. I have towed our 16ft dual axle cargo trailer twice and no concerns (see other post). I will buy them again as long as they are available. Just saw that on Goodyear.com they have a $200 rebate on a set of four (4). I got the same deal at Christmas when I bought mine.

Interesting that they got louder as they aged…. What’s your tread depth?
Have you been rotating the tires regularly? What PSI are you running them at?
I believe 37psi is recommended. Any wear issues?

The Falken’s came from factory on my 24 ……I’ve been impressed with performance so far, but only about 2,000 miles on them. Longevity is yet to be seen.

I've got Kenda Klever AT's on mine in 315 size and they are really quiet, so far. They also ride well. I had a set on my JK which I sold recently and had about 8k on them. My JT has a set with almost 7k and I really love them. They are outstanding off-road. The JK went to Moab with them and I feel they outperformed the KO2's I used to have on the slick rock. The KO2's were excellent, but suffered more chunking. The Kendas didn't appear to do that, at all.

I have had Firestone Destination AT on my past Cherokee and now the Gladiator. Good in snow and Rain.
Quiet on the hiway.
My willys had the mud tetrain and too aggresive for ny needs.

I rotate at 6-7k, run 36psi, pretty even wear, they have good tread on them, but I haven’t measured. I’m not the only one who thinks they got louder after 40k. Interesting.

I ran a set of Duratracs on my last rig before selling it. Awesome traction everywhere, dry rock, gravel, snow, mud, etc., but I'll throw my 2 cents out there on the paved road grip one as Florida roads are not made equal to the rest of the US due to the amounts of rain.

In the desert where I am, oils, trash, etc. all pile up and layer on the roads. The smallest sprinkle will cause the roads to flood due to the forementioned garbage blocking the entries to the city's flood management channels. The oils come up to the top and leave nice little slip and slides for cars trying to stop at a light, make turns, etc.

For me, the duratracs are my least favorite set of tires I ran in this specific environment. They'd just slide everywhere and wouldn't want to stop.

If you're in a wet climate, you'll probably be fine.

I meant to point out specifically that the Duratrac RT is a new tire design released in late 2023 and VERY different than the regular Duratrac that has been around for about 15 years.

Interesting, didn't know there was a re-design. I'd 100% check those out, I loved the duratrac 360 days out of the year but hated driving it in the rain here lol.

I really like those tires. That's exactly how they would look on my truck. Would those be 33 inch tires?

The size I have in the Duratrac RT (p275/65/18) works out to just over 32 inches and I am happy with the appearance on the stock Overland wheels. The LT285/70/17 to fit most factory 17 inch wheels is just a tad under 33 inches. The LT285/65/18 is also a 33 inch, and the LT285/65/20 is a 35 inch. From what I can find on the Goodyear site, the 33-35 inch sizes are only available in the LT series which will be a bit heavier than the slightly smaller p series sizes. I didn’t want to lose any mpg and acceleration with the heavier tires since my Overland has 3:73 gears. In anything with 4:10 gearing, the LT tires should be fine. I hope this is helpful.
