It's to prevent Jeep Covid.

We talked to that guy; he was the one running the dozer on top of Imogene the other day. He said it was to keep the marmots out. He said last year they chewed a wiring harness so bad it had to be replaced at a cost of $3200.
We waited for him to clear that last 100 yards or so. It was worth the wait.

We must have just missed you. We were up there right as the dozer came up from Telluride, but we headed back down to Ouray.

I got to be the one to update OnX about Imogene and Poughkeepsie Gultch opening for the season.

I'm pretty sure they are stuck up there. That is the ingenious design for a rapid mountain egress once the snow arrives.

That’s the Chinese balloon from earlier this year. Clearly a trick trying to lure an unsuspecting, adventurous American. Don’t approach it! I think they V8 swapped it too 🥹. Resist!

The Jeep is now ready for the helicopter to come, pick it up, and put it on the absolute peak of a nearby mountain so the owner can take the ultimate "I ride my Jeep harder than you" picture.

I didn't know the San Juans had this issue, but this is a big problem in the Canadian rockies. Rodents will eat all the rubber hoses while you're out hiking/climbing/exploring. Common practice to use tarp or chicken wire around the vehicle.

There was a Jeep ad back in the day that made fun of this. A film crew was scouting a location for a 4x4 commercial on the top of a mountain. One guy asks how they will get their vehicle up there and someone answers "helicopter."

Then they all get in the Jeeps they drove there in and drive back down the mountain.
