Thanks for the info. I did this a while back after reading the post when I had the issue. Held up perfectly till my window arrived weeks later. Im in Florida rains heavy daily never an issue. If was not under warranty I would have been fine with this for years. My delayed thank you!

Same here. Did mine last summer. Warm but very rainy fall and winter here in NJ and no leaks or adjustments necessary. I was actually just showing the fix to a friend over the weekend and couldn't believe myself how good it looks and how well it's held up. It looks so good and works so well I forget it's even there.

Did this today in my Mojave, Dam my thumbs hurt now! My window must have been replaced before because it was tight in some areas and I had a hard time getting the hose in.

This is a temporary fix until I get my 1 piece rear window made, hopefully next month...

Bought mine with 7 miles at the dealer...was tight in some areas. This is a result of the factory f***ing up the install.

So I've read through this thread and I suspect my rear window is leaking the same way. My question is, how / where are you looking and finding "cracks" before installing the tubing?

The other question is, what do you think the chances are, if I go to the dealership I bought the Jeep at (which I'll be doing soon anyways,) I could get the fix @berb got when they went to the dealer?

If you’re within your 3-36 warranty dealer will replace the rear window. Most dealers order a new window and sub contract the labor to a glass shop so the quality of your repair will vary greatly depending upon how much experience they have replacing gladiator windows

So to update on this, the dealer did fix the back window, I'm presuming they removed it, replaced the mounting / weatherstripping material. Downside is we've gotten into winter temps and aren't likely to see rain any time soon to find out if the fix ACTUALLY works.

My leak started after about a year. I bought the 7mm tubing. I found that it was tight, very tight in some places on the side. On the opposite side, it was loose and would even stay in place. I kind of think it was a bad install from the factory. I pointed it out to the dealer and scheduled the replacement. When I got home I soaked it down looking for leaks. The rubber fits nice all the way around now, but it is still on the shelf. If it ever leaks again, I will go with the rubber tubing.

For those that have not done this mod yet and even for those that have you may consider a little trick I learned with my 99 TJ.

When I had the soft top on, and I had the air conditioner on recirculate, it would suck the windows in and keep the vinyl windows from buffering in the wind. The opposite is true if you have the AC system set to fresh air it will bubble the windows out or pressurize the cabin. So if you find yourself in a torrential downpour, make sure your HVAC system is not on recirculate that way, whatever little micro cracks or whatever are in the plastic Frame and enough air can be pushed out of those to potentially prevent water from coming in and leaking. If you have it on opposite or recirculate, it can actually suck it in which we don’t want.

This little trick, obviously won’t have any effect if the vehicle is parked outside overnight and not covered.

Just bought a 2020 CPO gladiator and the roof leaks. Dealership took care of it and replaced the back glass/frame. I am thinking of doing the vacuum hose anyway as a second line of defense going forward. Thoughts??
Do it now. Mine started leaking about two years after the new window was put in under warranty and it took out a module and connector that are mounted under the back window.

My first (2020) JTR had the rear glass replaced due to this.
My "new to me" '22 JTR has the same issue, I'm so happy to have found this thread! Thx All!
