I got lucky and got my rear window repaired under warranty. It was sent out to a glass company where they replaced the rear glass, sealed with the black sealant stuff they use on windshields and then put a seamless gasket around the window. I do not know where they got it, but it looks great.
do you know the name of the glass place? Im going to call them, or a few places around here see if i can locate that seal!

I did my window about 2 months ago now and ZERO leaks since. It really does look pretty good too.
Nothing has moved through carwashes, weather (ice, snow, rain), etc.

That said, I read people saying DO NOT STRETCH the hose to make it fit, and I have to say that applying some stretch is the only way the 7mm hose fit. I only stretched it enough to make it possible for my thumb and tool to push the hose into the groove and still had pretty upset trigger finger after the install.

I bought from AMAZON 14.76ft Black Silicone Air Hose Pipe Tubing 7mm OD 3mm ID .

Also, sorry, no pics of the mod yet.

I do not. I took it to the Jeep Dealership in Maryland and they sent it out. The dealership would not share the info.

I called a local glass guy today, he has been in the auto glass business for over 25 years. He is also the glass guy that the local jeep dealer sub contracts to. I sent him your pics asking about that trim. He said yes i have it, i have a spool of it in my truck right now.

his response was unexpected.

He said he has done 4 jeep windows in as many years around here. for leaking issues. His primary jeep business is rock chip replacements of the front windshield (lmao). He said that space between the glass is common on rear windows, and any trim added will(over time) bind to the paint and if you ever do have to replace the glass you will be adding repainting to the process. He recommended i do not add trim or anything in-between in an attempt to prevent leaks(min is not leaking that ive ever noticed).

My window is also ceramic tinted, so idk if that would be covered should i need it replaced.
I'm still going to hunt this trim down, see if i can find it. "ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" mindset. I may do the silicone.

has anyone that has had this in for a year or more noticed it binding to the top?

Thanks for the info. I have had the trim for over a year and I have not had any binding. My Jeep is kept outside so it has been exposed to the elements.

I meant bonding not binding lol. Aka sticking to the paint and removing paint when you remove the trim.

If for some reason the window needs to be replaced, it will likely leak again. So, you are going to need to put the rubber hose 'trim' back in place again and it will cover any paint issues. At least that's the way I look at it.

I did not read all the posts on this topic, and have the rubber seal in hand. I used to rebuild insect screens (well I still do when my wife makes me), and have had good success with these type of rollers.

Amazon roller

Another fix for some could be the tube of black roofing repair silicone in a tube. I know most would botch that job, but if using a silicone tool, you can get really good results. I often find myself recaulking tubs and showers due to abominable work done by homeowners and professionals alike.

So far so good, but nice to know there is an easy DIY fix. Just another idea-- this might work too. Available in different sizes.

Yeah, I've been wondering why folks aren't using a flexible silicone sealant, but after watching a few videos I guess theres a decent sized gap once you get past the initial window edge?

I ordered the rubber tube that is linked here in the earlier pages of this thread and had a 'quick' look at shoving it in there. I'm on the fence about it as it can be shoved in too far and then it is loose in the gap. It's a great idea for sure, but I think there is something else. Possibly a foam type of material if you can shove it in far enough.

But then...what if you also have a leak is coming in through the bottom channel of the sliding window?

That is what I used. No leaks since I installed it.

. that actually looks pretty good. Did you have to do anything special to get it to hug the radius of the corners?

Can you share what size you used. A link to the actual product would be great. For those that want to try this approach.
