Personally, I'd rather have one of the all aluminum Chevy motors than a Hemi.

No cats on an ls engine is no issue at all, have ran no cats on all of my ls based Z06's. Only downfall, ya smell like a gas can after a long road trip. High flow cats can be purchased for around $500 last time I looked, but that was awhile ago.
Here in WV, the have inspections, suppose to get them every year, no smog testing, I haven't had an inspection on any of our vehicles in 8 years bc they won't pass something with the tires out past fender flare, and it's a cheaper fine to not have an inspection sticker than an expired one, lol.

The tires outside of the fender is no longer a thing as of last year . Mine stick out a good 2.5" passed inspection with flying colors

Yeah they border WV and Garrett and a couple others at one time the idea was tossed around about having WV annex those 3 counties. I ride my motorcycle through that area alot in the summer . If it wasnt for a sign you wouldn't know you left WV . Worked alot up around Jennings Randolph Lake also. Pretty area. Love me some mountains.

Yeah after I retired from the Army I was looking at TN and WV......so many benefits and loved the life.....but got ridiculous offers to stay here in the DMV

East TN anyday over anywhere in WV...if living cost and buying wasn't an issue. Eastern panhandle of WV is growing like crazy, but if I had to pick an area in WV, it would probably be elkins area, or down around the Greenbrier. Not to much to offer as far as culture, restaurants, shops, but an outdoorsman paradise for camping, fishing, hunting.

Crowds of people restaurants, terrorist plots, high density populations etc. there is nothing like Getting in that Gladiator and taking off into the mountains or many places around and being alone with NO PEOPLE . peace and solitude my brother.

Def agree with all of that! I can make a better meal over a camp fire than about any restaurant, lol, but the wife and kids like to go places every now and then. Really had my hopes set on a few hundred acres in montana/Utah to live out my days, but I have been priced out of that dream!
What part of WV are you in? We're over around Parkersburg, and I really feel it's the armpit of WV! Maybe not as bad as clarksburg/fairmont area tho.

I've done over 20 LS based swaps in my life, the long term plan for my Gladiator when my wife is done dailying it, is absolutely to swap it and have it replace my LS 4runner as my primary wheeler.

There's nothing particularly difficult or cutting edge about swapping them.

Just not a project I would recommend the average Joe with an average budget to take on and think he's going to knock out in a weekend, on something CAN Bus.
