I’m interested in swapping my factory intake manifold for the banks without the swirl valves. Seeing conflicting comments online if this will fit the 3rd gen engine. I’ve spoken to a few shops and they say that is does in fact fit. Even on Banks website there are multiple comments asking if it fits with two conflicting answers. Posting to see if anyone has actually done it themselves if they could post some pictures. I want to remove both egr coolers and install the manifold all at the same time.

I would go off what the website says and it looks like most of the parts are designed for the 2014-2019 Ram 1500 3.0L which I believe is the Gen 2. If you want to be positive you can always just give Banks Support a call. I have talked to them a couple times and they are pretty good.

Does the Gen 2 and Gen 3 share intake part numbers?

Banks answer when I have called is no. When I did call though they said they have not tested it on a gen 3 engine and are not sure themselves. Something I am cross referencing is Dormans replacement manifold. Their part number replaces a few Mopar part numbers which are specifically for the gen 2 and gen 3 manifold. My best guess is they did not even mess around with a race version of the gen 3 deleted to even try this manifold out. Hell they don’t even offer a cold air intake for the diesel….

They don't share the same part numbers, but I think the Banks intake might work with both generations. The two intakes look the same, but I haven't had a chance to physically compare them side-by-side. The Mopar intake comes with a MAP sensor installed. I noticed the 3rd gen EcoDiesel has a different MAP sensor part number, but the intake itself might be the same.

2020 - 2023 Mopar Intake: 68490098AA
2014 - 2019 Mopar Intake: 68492577AA

Not sure but the one the right has a side hole to where the one on the left does not.
Also, the one on the right shows only four screw/bolt holes and the right is showing what looks like nine. But the mounting holes do look the same.

The hole on the right side of the manifold is for the egr. I’m not concerned about that. My biggest concern is that the bolt pattern and the intake runner holes are the same size and configuration. I don’t mind experimenting but to remove the entire manifold just to say it doesn’t fit because they are slightly different will definitely suck.

I been curious about this as well … will need your tune adjusted to ignore the swirl valves …

might also “need” a larger turbo ;-)

OK, so you're doing the EGR delete, I missed that. I'm running into the same issue with my Gladdy, I have a metal lower intake for a JK and I am trying to use it on my JT along with the Metal oil cooler.
I will be watching this thread because my son has the 3rd gen Eco Diesel.

I don’t believe the swirl valves are active. To my understanding they are there along with the butterfly valve in the intake to help the egr system. I have EOC’s stage 2 currently. I’ll experiment in a few days. I’m going to unplug the swirl valve and throttle body and see if I get a CEL.

Gen 2 intake and throttle valve gasket part numbers:

Gladiator ecodiesel gasket part numbers are below

I am also EOC stage 2. I have been trying to get a used turbocharger for months to send to a shop to get reworked. We need a billet shaft with a 8 or 9 blade turbine and a larger intake wheel. I think it will work with the EOC tuning as it would just hit the boost limit or set point earlier and back off.

the part number for the manifolds are different as the sensors and swirl valves were changed. So was the EGT inlet.

I am told EOC programs them out but….no way to know for sure.
Remove your throttle valve plate as well. Then it’s just a shaft and doesn’t close off the intake. It helps when off-road.

I’m planning on keeping all my factory parts so I can always put everything back to stock completely. This is the route I would be going for the throttle plate.

Ok fellas (or gals) I'm I'm such a greenhorn on JT diesels. What does eliminating the swirl and not having the butterfly valve in the throttle body do exactly? Again sorry but not so up on diesels. My son on the other hand went to NADC and knows tons of stuff. But he only thinks he needs the Banks tuner. Thanks for you patience.
