6 Months In… Getting some poor “support”

Hello All,

Not a rant. I enjoy my 2024 Gladiator Mojave. I have a situation and I’d like some collective input. Feel free to criticize if you must, at 53 I can take it.

My dealership service is nonexistent. They sold me this new jeep with a lifetime power train warranty. That helped with 3.6 concerns.

I wanted a dealership where they could maintain it with records and stay ahead of any pending issues.

Oil change (Jeep Wave) I make an appointment a month out and get text confirmation and they blow me off the day of the appointment.

The following week I get a uconnect box error. Likely from it not fully being pulled out of dealer mode. Service says I need to get an appointment about two weeks out, and they need the jeep to sit there 10-14 days so they can “look at it”

Im hoping to pivot to another dealership for a better relationship. The powertrain warranty might not be honored.

Beginning to question if the drama is worth it.

I have that Lifetime Powertrain Warranty on mine, and you should be able to transfer it to another dealership. All you should have to do is contact the warranty company and notify them of your transfer to another dealership. Just make sure there isn't a gap in service during that time.

Who is the power train warranty through? Mopar or 3rd party?

I love the gladiator. But at no point is any dealership service worth it to assist in your Jeep ownership. Even if you had a dealer capable and willing to honor a warranty, the techs are still so miserably incompetent. You'll be lucky if they don't create issues in their attempt to fix the existing ones. we are talking about guys who can't even do an oil change properly. And somehow they are gonna pull off an engine replacement? transmission service?

Things I've warrantied on my truck/ things worked on.

1. Soft Top
2. parking brake
3. alignment
4. Jeep wave oil changes

What i actually got/ had to ultimately fix myself

1. stripped and ruin soft top frame, swirled the shit out of every painted surface on the truck
2. cracked my center console, left driver rear wheel loose.
3. gave me my truck with the wheel sitting at 6oclock to drive straight.
4. didn't torque the drain plug and drove it to the parking lot with it pissing oil everywhere.

they fixed nothing, and literally made things worse. The only thing the dealer is good for giving me my god damn inspection sticker every year.

You're lucky the Jeep only needs to sit there for a couple weeks. All the Jeep dealers here will park it for a month before they "look at it"

As Rusty asked …who is the warranty through? Given that it’s a newer vehicle the standard warranty will be good at any dealership. Most of the Jeep dealers I’ve been to have an express oil change lane and no appointment is necessary.

Making an oil change appointment a month out is redicolous!

Yes, at least in my area also, the dealers have the Express Oil Change thing. I have been turned away once or twice and asked to come the next day by coming in too "late" around 3PM when they are supposed to be open until 5PM. But other than that, oil changes are pretty quick (if they are actually changing the oil).

You guys have been incredibly helpful. I’m forwarding the information to the second dealership and they have been much more receptive. Crossing fingers on powertrain warranty.

It's that last sentence of the fine print. My lifetime was voided at the first oil change that I didn't let them do as part of my Lifetime drivetrain warranty.

Good to know. I won’t likely have the jeep beyond 100k but I don’t need the risk of it grenading at 1 mile over the factory warranty. Not sure how to mitigate the risk. It’s paid off and has 4k miles. I miss the old days of loyalty and common sense…. Longevity would be nice too.

I would think you’d have a decent chance at disputing that… they’d likely have to prove improper weight of oil, improper mileage, etc

As far as I know, MOPARS MAXIMUM CARE policy is their best warranty insurance policy currently available. MOPAR did offer some lifetime warranty insurance policies on the JK's. But the last year that was offered was on the 2015's. I have this policy on my 2013 JKR. But most 3rd party warranties, are not worth the paper that they are written on. I have heard this from many members in several Jeep Forums. Plus, we have a friend that just had a bad experience with one of them. So, she cancelled it and took out the MOPAR MAXIMUM CARE POLICY.

There is no dispute. You must present the vehicle to them for scheduled maintenance. That is my fine print. Walker Jones Waycross GA is also the home of The LifeTime warranty. I inquired about my CP4 pump that is not covered on the 3/36 powertrain coverage but only 12/12. I asked if the lifetime warranty covers it. They showed me that I no long have an eligible vehicle because I never brought the vehicle in for service. That is a requirement in the fine print.
