I am looking into getting my 6th JT - been reading alot about roller/lifter/lash adjuster failure - now i am hearing about cam phaser issues. Has this stuff been mended ? Or is stellantis still using sub quality component suppliers ?

Well, I just had my cams redone at 59k miles. She started giving me CEL and the truck was running awful. Hoping this is the solution. I’ve been reading about the motor oil. There’s a number of people using a higher weight oil despite “manufacturer recommendations” and having success. There is also an after market check valve/oil filter adapter that can be used to ensure that the top side of the engine stays lubricated.

If you read the internet:
Yes, it's been resolved (or your risk of one blowing is really small)
No, it hasn't been resolved and they will all explode

Several makes have phaser issues
Several makes have lifter/cam issues.

Stop reading so much and enjoy your Jeeps.

LOL - only in that there's no damage. Not success in preventing the cam failure.
It took 10 seconds to find Jeep people running "heavier oil" and then STILL having cam failures.
And there's several here with over 100,000 miles using the recommended oil.
So.............
Oil won't matter, in other words. If it's gonna happen, it will. If it's not going to happen, it won't.

If I was looking at buying my 6th JT I would probably assume myself to not be too concerned with reliability.

I'd just buy a 7th at the first sign of an issue with the 6th.

YMMV
I'm on my 3rd - not because of troubles with the others, but due to constant changes, additions, features and so on.
The reason I kept buying was because of the great reliability of the prior versions.
My wife kept buying Grand Cherokees because of the constant improvements and changes and because each one had proven very reliable.

If I had issues with the prior 2, I'd have looked in a different direction............

I bought this JTR because it is light years ahead of my old 2014 JKR. I have not yet seen a CEL although There is some looming issues. I will not ever see another JT. Not even a one with a Hemi. Stelantis doesn't fix any problems, they just kick it down the road. Cams fail, just replace them but no one knows why they fail. Same with transmissions.

Im not shaming the repeat purchase, im considering another JT actually lol. Just saying that 6 in 4-5yrs would mean unlikely to encounter any real issues, so not much to worry about.

True.
depending on the mileage. At least a couple of members here appear to put on about 30K/year.
But if they only go 8-10K, not likely to run into any real problems.

Yeah, I should have clarified that I was also not poking fun of OP. I am on my third after all (I liked the first two so much I actually went backwards in model year to get the right color, lmao).....and far too many vehicles with "Jeep" on the fender to be bothered to count at the moment.

Actually, now that I think about it.........after 6, I think maybe he should be telling me what to expect in terms of quality instead of the other way around.
