I am hoping @Northridge4x4 runs another black friday sale similar to last year, where the Currie axles were 15% off.
You know we'll have a bunch of good deals.

I don't know what they're planning yet, it's still a bit early.

If you're under 60K miles I'd let the dealership take a crack at it. I blew out a U-joint in the front a couple months ago, was over the general warranty but they covered it and all the collateral damage under the 60k powertrain warranty(since it was a powertrain part that caused the collateral).
I still may try that option, but I have a feeling they might deny my claim because of the lift and 37s.

I’d say it’s bad luck. Lots of us are running stock housings with way more miles and heavy use cases. Sucks though. Sorry.
No worries, you are right about it being bad luck though. I went back to the scene of the incident and it was a giant hole in the ground. The rain made it larger than it used to be and I ran right into it. Basically a 2 foot diameter desert pot hole with solid square edges and about 1-2 feet deep.

That would break something. Depending on speed, I’m sure it could have been worse.

Would trusses have prevented this?
I think they would have helped for sure. The extra heavy diesel engine definitely needs them. I was not going faster than 20 mph because it was dark and raining.

Here are the possible culprits with my TJ for size reference. My money is on the bigger one, because I was further down the road and that one is newer.

The cones were added by some kind soul after the rainstorm.

That word does come to mind. It reminds me a lot of the freeway around the south side of Indianapolis - the hole wasn't much smaller than that one and the chunk of concrete that popped up out of the hole was almost as big as half of one of my tires and I had to swerve - truck trailer and all -to avoid it.
So I guess I went rock crawling and along hazardous trails before - at the edge of Indianapolis.

I hate you guys sometimes... Y'all talked me into getting the HD60 (stock brakes and steering) from Currie and the BF sale pushed me to get the heavier duty axle.

According to Currie, the only thing I'll need to swap out is the driveshaft and tie rod. The steering stabilizer should mount up with a JK stud style track bar bolt. That should get me back on the road until I upgrade the steering to the new Apex Through Shaft Ram steering.

Should I do a separate thread on the front axle swap? I did not find very much information on it when I was researching my options.
