I think Chris stacking the fairleads was a great way to do it. I had a piece of 1/4” 1”x3” steel angle I cut out the winch line opening with a holesaw and sawzall drilled the holes to match and spanned the frame horns and it was solid I did drag a F-250 up a hill at a thirty degree angle about and no movement .
At this time I realize I have to resign from the plastic bumper club as I scored a very nice Mopar Performance Parts mid width steel bumper that I could not resist! But still amazed how talented these guys are doing these………Jack

I recently did this, LOD/hf plate, warn evo 12s. I did the threaded inserts on the fairlead plate, and the stacked fairleads have a releif cut over the bolt holes so they still stacked flush against the fairlead plate from HF with the inserts sticking out some.

lots of cutting and trimming to minimize the material removed. I only removed enough on the top side so that the control box sticks out, the handle is easy enough to manipulate i didnt cut out there.

I'll post pics in an hour or so.

I’d be concerned about the fair lead, but I’m glad it’s working out for you guys. I didn’t want to add more weight than I needed to, my winch plate and winch are heavy enough, so I did the MP Concepts aluminum one that looks and fits exactly like the OEM steel bumper.

i only used the LOD included spacers behind the plate, none in front.

i'll redo the relay brackets later, just what i had laying around.

12s weighs 53.5lbs not including hook, or winch plate/fairleads.

I didnt have any argument for doing this (winch in plastic bumper) other than I like to tinker and it will make people ask questions 😄

I wish i could. But i ended up selling evrything i had and went to the steel rubicon bumper. What i did have was the LOD winch mount for their signature series bumper. Two amazon winch fairleads. A harbor freight fairlead mount It was all from the thread on here that pertains to it after looking at the different ideas people had and which one i like best.

So Rock Hard or LOD as far as winch plates go? I'm looking at building my own bumper but want it lowered for airflow to the diesel radiator.

LoD worked fine for me if you can find one in stock.

I got mine from quad... but i ordered a bare metal version and painted it myself.

If i wanted to spend more, I'd probably have bought the Grimm one, all one piece, no welds. Even has a fairlead mount too.
