I have a small camper... 3k gross weight. We camp a lot in the summer, and was surprised to learn that the gladiator doesn’t have trailer brakes!!
Hey - saw your post where you towed your camper and it was 'okay' what did you figure out for brakes?
Would really appreciate if you could share your thoughts about the tow trip also-

Tekonsha 3014-P Brake Control Wiring Adapter for Jeep https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QRWR1YI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_TAI3CbQABC799

Get this and a tekonsha brake controller, plug it in under the dash and go have fun. It's super easy, like ridiculously easy. Plug and play. I bought this for my JL, but just grabbed it to put in my JT before I traded it.

If you want the nice jeep part later (I do too), you can always sell the brake controller, and probably the pig tail too, but it'll be way better to have trailer brakes in the interim.

Have we heard any release date on the factory brake controller for the JT? Or has it been nixed?

How can they not release it?? They claim to tow 7600 lbs? My overland can tow over 4K I think...

I wish I thought about pulling my break controller out of my Grand Cherokee when I just traded it in!!

Where is the plug under the dash of the JT?

I am thinking of doing this also. How do I know if I have the connections under my dash. I have an overland with the tow package. If it is as simple as plug and play I will be ordering it as I will be using my travel trailer next weekend.

Thanks Gregg

I pulled this off the Jeep website a few minutes ago. I'm going to call tomorrow and ask why it's on their website if we can't order it.

I believe they all have it, just crawl under the dash with a flashlight and look for the connector.

Found it

Any recommendations for a set up that is easy.

The tekonsha pigtail and one of their decent brake controllers will be plug and play, then you just have to adjust it to your trailer.

So to follow up, they did confirm that it isn't available. My dealer even checked and said it's not available. Jeep should take this off the website until it is available.
