I've got a shorter garage, and wanted a top lift so I can pull it off by myself, but also didn't want to hit my head on it constantly in the middle of the garage (I'm 6'4"). So got a hoist-a-top and build a custom rig for it, and mounted to some sliding door rails to get it out of the way.

Rig before mounting:

With the top just pulled, as close as I can pull the truck to the wall:

Pushed back to the storage spot (ignore the mess that is my garage right now):

Just have not found a side rail and step combo to fill my needs (Doesn't hang lower than the stock Rubicon Rails, can be used as a step and looks symmetrical to the vehicle) Installed these Retractable Steps from MORE Off Road in Colorado.
They come powder coated black, lower the step 11" and are spring loaded to retract
Also removable when off roading big obstacles

There called Jeep D*~k Sucker. We should wear this like a badge of honor like us Deplorables did with Killary.

Have a good day you Jeep D*~k Suckers.
Omg too funny. You know that yellow sweater wearing, Toyota driving bitch wouldn’t say a word to anyone’s face. He’s the new generation of bully, Internet warrior wanna be world changer who couldn’t survive a day without his Prius, iPhone and CrossFit beard girlfriend who lifts more than he does and puts together all their ikea furniture while he makes YouTube videos!!

Not today, but put on some aux lighting for when the camping season reopens or using the boat ramps in the dark.

Over the weekend, I put the jpeggz on for the first time. Put a couple hundred miles on at speeds ranging from 0-80. Mirrors didn’t budge and my left leg got sunburnt from leaving it on the Jeep Star footpad lol. Very happy with the look and double function of these “trail mirrors.”

Do you have any pictures of them pulled down? Those are interesting... How strong are the springs holding them up?

Hey Brother!
I don't have any photos handy but go to Mountain Off Road (MORE) online for more info. They are really strong and well made.

This has become a spring project for me as well. I have a carport and just don't trust the support of having the top hang up there, so I'm building a hoist myself with 2x6 support beams. I'm modeling it after the Hoist-A-Top and Lange combined. I'll try to set up a Do it Yourself at some point, but it will have hopefully the best of all worlds.

Having a local Northridge 4x4 is dangerous to my wallet. New adjustable Falcon steering stabilizer ordered. Plus side, added another 13 entries to their Gladiator giveaway.

I built a suspended storage rack for my hard top and freedom panels. Made the frame out of 2x4’s and 3-inch #9 construction screws. It is 68-inches wide x 45-inches wide.

I used 1/2 x 6-inch eyebolts:

BB39A3D7-8DD4-4A43-835E-D36D06299424.jpeg

Added a support in the front for the top to rear on - there is garage door rubber seal where the top rests.

9379FD60-602D-49C5-9A3E-0CB9E9A95751.jpeg

Added casters so I can move it around when on the ground and a few stops on the side and rear to keep the top from sliding off the platform. I had the netting from a past Grand Cherokee so I rigged that up to provide light downward force on the top in the front and act as a drop of the freedom tops shifted forward

Suspended the platform from the ceiling with ratchet straps rated for 500 lbs each. The ceiling mounts are rated for 400 lbs each.

Used foam under the rear to support the top off the platform:

I only need it high enough that I can pull my Z4 under it. Going to let it hang overnight and put the Z under it tomorrow....

I’m doing something similar (size & casters). How are you lowering it? My experience with Ratchet Straps is when you release them they GO And it would be hard to keep all four corners level. Thanks for your guidance.
