Why do owners never take doors/tops off or go off-road?

On the topic of taking doors/roof off I wonder how my TSB and first service is going to go. In an effort to make the truck as easy to strip down and put back together I have. Nothing that would effect steering, but sure to get some looks

Removed all Carpet
Let the door stops retract into the doors
Removed the plastic covers for the door wiring (I had one of the rear ones fly off on the road figured it made more sense just to remove and store them)
Put guide pins in where the door bolts go
I am sure there is evidence of the windshield going down
Had to bend the pin in the door connector to fix my mirrors after they stopped working

Why do people feel they get to judge what other people do with their personal property?

Why do people think when a person buys something, they have to use it exactly the way it is used by others?

Passive Aggressive much from a psychological stand point?

Why does it matter? It's their money. If it weren't for a diverse group of customers buying Wranglers then the Gladiator wouldn't exist. The sales volume generates profit and that generates R&D and new models.

Why can't people buy what they want, use it the way they prefer, and get enjoyment from it? And why do so many people get bent out of shape at what other people do? And why judge the person for not pursuing your use, or worse yet, make assumptions about them?

And this argument that it isn't being used for what it is meant for... What it's "meant for" is up to the buyer.
This is a meaningless topic.... Who cares?

Better than what some military equipment has painted on it! LOL
I had a "Miss Piggy" sticker on my M60 feedtray cover in 91 :like:
Now on forums... I'm on or have been on quite a few. Some of them I don't have time or patience to hangout on and don't. Firearms, NFA, Jeeps, off-road, RV's, Scuba diving, boating and military stuff. The latter I have dropped out of most.
But this reminds me I need to check in with a few others again.

There may not be a snorkel poking above 6’ of water; a body encased in MO’s red clay; or deep scars from crawling up rock mountain. There are fishing, camping, and kayaking adventures with my grandson. The Glad May not go far off-road, but I do - and smile every time I go there in the beast.

I think occasionally reviving old threads is a good thing. New members can get information or see things from a different perspective by reading them.
Just because the information is old, doesn't mean it isn't new to someone else. If that was the case we wouldn't have history books.

Do the writings of Marcus Aurelius lose their value as time passes? Do the teaching of Seneca and Epectitus degrade as the years go by?

I'd proffer that they need to be read by more folks more often these days.

Can someone please explain to me why so many people have Wranglers (and I'm sure it'll be the same with the Gladiators) that never, ever take the tops or doors off or leave the pavement? Maybe because I see so many left and right here in the DC metro area, most of them being Rubicons no less, and the biggest obstacles their vehicles ever see is accidentally tagging a curb.

Seriously, it really has me dumbfounded.

What exactly is the draw for people who have no desire to leave suburbia and urban areas to own these vehicles?

Just curious from a psychological perspective...
How do you know they dont go off road? Just because they are doing the daily 9-5 grind 5 days a week doesnt mean theyre not climbing rocks on the weekends. Cant leave a jeep open in the Bronks Monday thru Friday, it will be stripped in no time. They buy them for what ever reason they need them for. I just ordered a rubicon Gladiator...I wanted the Mojave because I live on an island in Maine and I drive on the beach a lot...but I also have horses and need the max tow rate so have to go with the rubicon. Its not all about how you live your life its how each individual lives their lives.

And I'll say it again - if enough people didn't buy Jeeps for just plain driving around, commuting, daily driver sort of thing, or as a pickup or a way to move things around, Jeep would cease to exist. The hard-core rock crawling if it ain't bent, you ain't trying crowd simply are not enough to keep them alive these days.
Even Ford trucks - geesh, the 4x4 F250s I see at a Walmart or Grocery store, clean, maxed out with options....... even Ford knows they must cater to a wider crowd or lose sales to the company that does.
I wanted a pickup that was easier to park and would fit into the space I have left after parking my other 4 vehicles, lawn tractor and other stuff, and would still haul what I wanted to haul. No canyons here, no rocky valleys or forest trails on mountain sides where I live. If Jeep didn't make these a multi-use truck, there would be NO JTs sold in Iowa at all.

Despite the responses here, some of us agree with you. I’ve seen around 10 Gladiators now, not a single one had top off or even windows down. I don’t get it either. I’ve had mine 6 weeks now and I bet the top has been closed 1 week. I bought a soft top because hard tops are a pain in the butt. I put a shade on it to keep my forehead from getting burnt, and put the soft top under my tonneau for when weather gets bad. I had a TJ for 14 years and had the top down May - Oct every year. I’m lucky to have a garage at home and work and live in a relatively dry climate.

I also drive a Sport, and my TJ was a Sport, and I still take them off road. I took my TJ all over Colorado, and am hoping to get the JT out on more trails once my calendar clears up. I have a hard time justifying a $45k price on a vehicle, otherwise I would have gotten a Rubicon. My $36k Sport is capable enough and will see more trails than 90% of these Rubicons.
I don't have to justify anything I buy and this is my 3rd Jeep. :)

Yes, you do. It's the law of the INTERNET, all sites, all FB pages, everywhere you go - twitter, whatever, you must justify to the entire world - you can't escape it.

I'm on my 3rd Jeep and love to go curb crawling at the mall! I haven't found a curb tire stop that I haven't been able to conquer, yet! I have been really lucky and haven't gotten the dreaded curb rash on my curb skid plates. I have a lot of pictures of my Jeep flexing on the tire stops, but I am not going to post them. I hate bragging! Besides, it is my Jeep, I wanted it, I'm paying for it, so I can do anything I want with it, without having to explain why I bought it to anyone!:)

Damn do I hate stupid questions!

LOL - a few weeks ago we took my truck to church and some deer hunters parked next to us - in THEIR JT. It was actually crowded that evening, a bit of snow on the ground. I usually park facing the street with a ditch between the parking lot and the street. I decided to leave the easy way - through the ditch and onto the street. The hunters next to us followed us through the ditch. Not deep by any means, but still fun while all of the car people used the normal exits.

Did you get any ditch rash? I guess it would be a badge of honor!

I would hate to think what could happen if the doors were off and the Jeep got T-boned! Especially if a small child was in the backseat!
