Hello all, bought my truck 5 days ago. I made this account for this specific issue I did NOT know about nor was I told by my dealership before purchase. I feel like I have been swindled. I never would have bought it had I know. When I go over bumps at 20MPH or so, I hear a bump from the front. This seems like this could cause long term damage to the vehicle.

How do we know that @JeepCares wont give us the mopar lift as a fix? That is THE fix. They should do the right thing and do this for us. Then in the future, make it standard and tack on the price onto future vehicle sales. I did not buy this vehicle for this to be happening. It seems dangerous and seems like a lawsuit should follow if they refuse to give us a fix. A fix they have NOW might I add. Also yes, I am fuming and Yes I have contacted a lawyer about this.
Easier to put a lift or aftermarket springs and get in with life … this is the best Jeep product I’ve owned, I’d be surprised if there is any legal action to take, the suspension is only subjectively inadequate… nowhere does it say we are buying a vehicle whose suspension has 5” of up travel and 7” down …

BTW: speed bumps at my work I feel the bumpstop stopping on top and rolling down, so, 1-2mph. Speed humps in my neighborhood which keep us going 25mph, my Jeep is limited to 10-15mph and still kiss the stops.

it would be nice if Jeep would sympathize with our issues, admit fault (which they did) and offer something to help their customers (mopar lift).

The suspension, among other purposes, serves to keep the vehicle in traction with the road AND, by reason of full use of travel, to protect many undercarriage components from stress and breakage due to direct transfer of impact forces.

It is unsafe, albeit not during normal driving conditions, but in the instances when you may need it the most. Ford Explorers didn't just flip over as they were driving down the road on a sunny day. And they too were made unsafe due to the manufacturer (who knew of the problem before releasing the vehicle to the public) cutting corners by selling them with an inadequate cheaper suspension component (a skinnier tire.)

Jeep has wittingly followed this same path though it can be argued it may not be as obvious, prolific, or as dangerous as the first Ford Explorers, it has nonetheless repeatedly demonstrated faultiness under regular driving conditions.
Are you an attorney? That sounded very attorney-ey to me. :CWL:

What I think you're trying to say is that Jeep is being scummy by not acknowledging an issue they are likely familiar with on many of their vehicles that should be seen as a safety issue - which I agree with to an extent.

However, I don't foresee any vehicle rolling over because you hit a shopping mall speed bump too hard. The suspension bottoming out should not cause your loss of control and if it does, you were probably driving too fast for conditions.

Should Jeep fix this? Absolutely, they are not giving these vehicles away to charity - they are asking more than the median US household income for all of them.

I own a 2021 JTRD and I added a Warn 12S winch to the factory steel bumper and the 2" MOPAR lift as soon as my vehicle arrived in April. I now have 14,000 miles, to the best of my knowledge I have never bottomed out the suspension?

JeepCares acknowledged the issue, they are working on a fix … it happens. Let them do their job or you can lift it and dump those inadequate springs and shocks.

Agreed, they need to take care of it. I've not had issues with mine, but I picked it up with a 2" lift already.

Let me give an update, I just call Jeep (877-426-5337) and talk to a live agent over the phone , the agent keep redirect any issue to my dealer.
Call my dealer and they tell me "they haven't see any customer with this problem, probably it is just a bunch of people want to get something for free, so you don't have to worry it, if you have any problem we can change the parts, JEEP have a good warranty program "

I really hope they fix that problem for the 2022 model. "Estimation to be completed on Dec 4 and then wait for 2 week to arrive".

I have question to ask. how I can inspect if they (JEEP) have FIX the issue, or reproduce the issue?

Once again thank you for the Information.

Well what everyone here reports is that by driving 10-15mph over a speed bump you should hear a loud bang, like something broke. If that happens, refuse to take delivery until they fix it. Easy as that my friend.

And you won’t, either.

Mopar 2” lift is a guaranteed fix/solution.

I figured Jeep wouldn’t ever offer a fix, so I bought abs installed the mopar lift. Problem solved. My wallet is $1,200 lighter and I have a new scar on my knuckle from the install.

Agree with Jefe1018, the bottoming out issue is an annoyance for sure, but there’s still much I like about my JTRD. I’ve put 3700 miles on mine purely traveling on two road trips and it’s been a great truck so far. My only request is for Jeep to recognize this is an issue and then take steps to remediate the problem for us as customers.

They should give us the mopar 2 inch lift for free.

@JeepCares I took mine to the dealer for an oil change today and documented the bottoming out issue. Nothing significant to report, but it should go into the system to add to the issue and hopefully we’ll see a TSB # soon.

WOW…… I really concert about this issue, I just order a rubicon eco diesel about two weeks ago. I not planing to install a lift kit. I ordered the diesel because I’m going to used for towing a RV with my family and dog, sorry no cat. Really going fishing and start photograph with a telescope. So rubicon is 60% of what I need. I don’t want to raised the rubicon because it is going to affect the mpg. I perfect to install a extra tank. But if the rubicon is not safe to drive. I thinking of cancel the order getting the Toyota….,!!!! It seemed the Jeep have to many issue that Jeep don’t fix it before it before it came out to production, like the liking oil.
thank you for the information.
My thoughts EXACTLY!
The Rubicon out of the box IS a lifted super off roader AS IS!
I'm NOT lifting it! NO WAY. That would NOT be the vehicle I purchased.
What about the warranty?
And if somehow FCA goes with installing a lift kit what about the reduced MPG - this is REAL problem. The more air under the chassis the more drag.
What about getting in and out of this thing with a lift? Will FCA pay for power steps too?!
This is unacceptable and ridiculous!
( IMO the Toyota is crap - 99% STILL have rear drum brakes )

Jeep cares is NOT currently working on this issue!!!!! They have CLOSED the case as there was no simple fix and the Mopar lift was considered a performance modification. It has been "rumored " about a service bulletin but nothing and no time frames have been released.

Additionally most lifts are on back order, or they have not developed the springs for the diesel yet.

Yes I am pissed....I love my JTRD .... but I am starting to hate slowing down to 5mph every time I cross railroad tracks or speed bumps.
