Maybe replacing shocks is cheaper for jeep than new springs?
I think the springs are cheaper than the shocks here—that TSB is for Rubicons, so they’re Fox shocks.

Yeah but I wouldn't be suprised if fox had some sort of cause in their contract that holds them accountable to some extent should the performance not hold to oem specifications.

Could see a situation where they're eating the cost, but getting the tsb shocks back to be remanufactured to new specs

The oem is out a bump stop and a couple nuts and bolts. Again speculating, but these manufacturers definitely tend to do the smart fix for them and not necessarily what's right.

But still, hope this solves the problem.

I wonder if the shocks are shorter and therefore don't bottom out. Or do they have a different compression rate?

The shocks will have different valving, and likely be much stiffer up front to compensate for the minimal up travel before bump stop contact on the diesel. The jounce pad will be redesigned to take the blow of the impact and hopefully minimize metal on metal contact we had during bottom out events.

It seems strange but some cars don't have a ton of uptravel to soak up bumps. My Miata on coil overs only has about 2" up travel, and about 3" down the way I have them setup currently.

But it doesn't ever bottom out...
The ride is bumpy because I have them set pretty stiff.

What is most interesting is I think they are replacing all 4 shocks.

I bet they are replacing all four so they have compatible or similar valving.

So apparently my dealership said that after diagnosing the issue told jeep cares I was going faster so bottoming out is a NORMAL operation. Umm no

My 2020 wrangler unlimited with the 2.0 engine never bottomed out no matter the speed.

My friends gas engine gladiator doesn't bottom out either.

So I called my dealership and chewed them out. I also told them about the above TSB fix. They are going to look into it tomorrow after I gave them the TSB number.

My dad wants to say screw it and put on an aftermarket 3.5 inch evo lift or metal cloak and be done with it.

Ugh, fucking Chrysler. Sorry but I'm pissed. This should not be happening. This bottoming out issue is NOT Normal.

My dad said Chrysler just doesn't want to admit their screw up and do a proper fix. The tech even said a lift would fix it immediately.

The issue is that the bumpstops are hitting and not the shock bottoming out. So I'd assume that the new shocks are stiffer.

Hey I said that before too!

FCA has a recall reimbursement program for people who fix issues, out of pocket, before a recall is issued. But I guess this is not a recall... I think it is worth trying anyway... Would be nice to get at least the amount of the replacment parts and the 2-3 hours of shop time paid out to put toward my lift kit expenses.

I would love to hear if anyone tries this fix and what they think about it.
Or if anyone has done something else without a lift and has fixed the issue. I don't want to lift it.

At dealer today for DEF recall and they ordered the parts for the TSB. Said the shocks will be here in 4-5 days. That surprised me. The jounce bumpers are end April estimated. That must be the issue, right?

Awesome. I bet it will help. I imagine the 2022's have the new shocks.... They have the new jounce bumpers

Anyone try this with an ecodiesel other than a Rubicon yet?
