and if someone doesn't steal them, they're talking the catalytic converters
Just happened to my friend's Subaru Outback parked off street, under a security light. The worst part was they didn't even get the CAT... idiots made off with a basically useless resonator. Not that that made the repair bill any less.

For some reason I don’t think my Gladiator fits in my garage as easily as my 2003 Ram quad cab.

It might just be my imagination, or more likely, all the extra junk and mowers I’ve accumulated since then.

Regardless, it barely fits in my garage ?‍♂
I literally spent many days last summer going through some things and hauling stuff up to the end of the driveway by the road. I put a FREE sign by it. I had to do that to make room for our not cheap lawn tractor and accessories and get things so that I could get it in and out between our Jeeps without having to move a Jeep out, then get the lawn tractor out, etc. Not bad in the summer but in the winter I get it out for blading snow, so any vehicle is in the way in the driveway.
I made a lot of people happy in the process - I know, because when my wife and I were taking a walk last fall and lady who was walking the opposite direction asked if we were the couple at the bottom of the hill. Yeah......... so.......... she thanked us for all the stuff we put out for free because she knew a couple of the folks who got some of it - one was her son who was unemployed and needing some shelving and other stuff to try to fix things up around home.
But - there's still only so much space in a garage.

When we first moved here, before I added onto the garage, when it was still just a 2 car with all of our stuff in it, not put away, etc. my wife gave me an ultimatum -
She said:
"MY Jeep will be in the garage by tonight or that's where you sleep tonight"
Her Jeep was in there that afternoon. I'm not a poker player - I wasn't about to call her bluff.

Same here I only got a 1 car Garage (big mistake in still my first house), I had to get rid of a lot of "junk" before Mojave arrived. The dealer delivered it to my driveway and I had him drive it in the first time because (although i took all the measurements) I still wasn't sure it would fit. It did with enough room. Obviously now it is no big deal to put her in and out, but I don't want to get complacent...And after only a few months now my garage looks much better mostly just gear which supports Mojave.

Garage fitment is one of the reasons why I chose the Gladiator in the first place. I live in a pretty nice area in Orange County and even last week my street (which is pretty hidden) got hit with two CATs stolen from driveways. Both were on camera.

These dudes are brazen and don't give a sh$t because at least here in CA, it's a slap on the wrist if caught.

Well his pic shows to have a garage. And lets not pretend that A LOT of people don't keep 500 dollars of shit in their garages and 100K in vehicles outside of it. You are WAY less likely to have a vehicle stolen from inside a garage.

You don't have to adopt my logic here...but I'd personally say that if you cannot afford to garage it then you likely cannot afford a vehicle...or at least you likely should have a vehicle nobody would want to steal. Or be OK with it being stolen (thats what insurance is for).
MY entire subdivision was built in the early 70s. There isn't one garage. Plenty of carports. Plenty of houses without those too, though. Lots of 3 or 4 car households. Just because there's no garage doesn't mean there's no money.

Sorry that happened to you. I live where that kind of thing isn't a problem... we instantly drop them and then call the coroner to come pick up the body. The sheriff writes a report and then shakes our hands and says nice job.
Sorry, tough guy, this is a fantasy. You can legally shoot someone who breaks into your home while you are in your home. This doesn't mean you can shoot someone for trying to steal a vehicle. Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't lose any sleep over thieves getting shot. The law has a different perspective; even in Florida.

The fact is if professional thieves want your Gladiator, there's nothing you can do. Although it does help to make it more difficult to steal.

If you’re completely stock.
Insurance can cover mods. Mine does. For any mods over $1000, I have to have it underwritten to have it covered, but they'll cover it, at minimal additional cost.

now i need to dig through the schematics... there is (or was) a disconnect on the gladiator such that with the doors locked, even if there were no doors on it, the engine would not start, even with the key until you unlocked it... wondering how they bypassed that

I had the same opinion of this post. This “tough guy” thinks it’s ok to murder someone who is stealing a THING?! After all, a car, truck, etc is stil just a thing and while I hate the idea of thievery the murder of a person is waay beyond the pale.

I’m very clear an experienced and determined car thief will likely get whatever they target. I’m willing to try to reduce their chance at success but I’m not going to spend thousands to do so. Yes, my JTR is stock other than a tonneau and a bed mat, and that’s the way it’ll stay in part because mods are inducements to thieves and a stick JTR s already highly capable. I don’t need to bolt every damn thing listed in a catalog to prove it to anyone.

Depends on your insurance.
When we had WJ that I totaled, it had a lot of accessories, and we got paid a top dollar for the Jeep - and some added in for accessories.
I believe ours covers certain things up to a given dollar amount. We have the option of upping that provided I give them a list of the accessories. (for a price, of course!)
Some may not cover anything but stock - likely how some companies say "we save drivers an average of $500" - wow, that's more than what we pay for a vehicle! They have to be cutting costs somewhere.

Such tough guy fantasies get perpetuated in other forums. Unfortunately, it will ultimately result in tragedy. Example: Some tough guy sees someone trying to open the doors to his Gladiator, parked in his driveway, one night. He fires four 9mm rounds at the perpetrator and later learns he murdered a 14-year-old girl who was trying to her hoodie from her dad's truck, which looks just like the tough guy's truck, and was parked a few houses down. Way to go, tough guy. Yeah, this is why it's not legal.
