Thank you sir for pointing out the improvement, I wasn’t aware there had been any. I just ordered this product 3 weeks ago and haven’t installed it yet. Mine shows a packaged date of 1/21 and thankfully it has the new nut and set screw.

I know you have had the TSB done on your JT along with this new Synergy design. Did you ever have this kind of fitment issue? Almost seems like the pitman arm is too high on the splined shaft.

I followed the directions to a T and everything worked perfect except the bearing placement on the new nut.

That is strange. I see what you mean, its like the nut and pitman arm are a quarter inch too high. Never seen that before. Have you called poly or synergy to find out why?

Tried calling Synergy today after I installed but I’m guessing they’re off today. Decided to send an email as well. Hopefully hear from them Monday. It’s very strange.

Posting in the event that others have the same issue. Received this reply from Synergy today.

"So in some super rare cases the sector shaft in the steel box is shorter than normal. I Have only seen this once before. You can use a thick grade 8 washer to space the nut out for more engagement."

I'll report back with what washer worked best.

Here was my solution... 11 gage SS washer, 29mm ID and 42mm OD.

I had it lasered out at work but this is a good equivalent.

There has been a lot of talk about the steering getting loose and Synergy getting bad press for the bearing. I called them and they sent me out a new version for wet, muddy, sandy environments. This version is a sealed design and is better than ever. I cant recommend them enough and I talk to the engineering they have done here in this video.

Do you have a link for this replacement bearing?

Just installed mine and is just like this. I may look at the washer/spacer option.

It worked great. Like I said, mine is made from 11 gage stainless so it’s 0.120” (3mm) thick and it’s perfect. The link I posted to McMaster Carr is potentially a bit too thick but it’s the closest I could find to what I had made.

I had that exact issue when I installed my brace. I too, installed a large washer above the nut to place the nut farther into the billet bearing. It works perfectly.

Sounds like another message to Synergy needs to be sent off, to see about including some type of "optional" washer in their kits.

Agreed. I checked mine today and the thickness off is like 1/16" or so meaning that item i ordered is a tad thick. I may check amazon or ace hardware.

Just curious, for the folks that had an alignment issue... do you have the original steering gear box, or one replaced under the TSB? I wonder if that's the reason some line up and some don't?

Just a follow up. I installed my Synergy brace and had the same issue discussed above. I ended up ordering these washers on Amazon. Worked perfect.

It seems like this is a very common issue. I'm still wondering if it's related to a difference in the new gearbox.
