Here's the results of my 2024 Rubicon oil analysis after the first 1600 miles. Definitely highlights the need to change oil very early on. I just got the oil changed and I'll probably do my next sample +2,000 miles from now. I like how this should be able to highlight things happening like lifter/cam wear.

A few follow-up edits to summarize conversations below:

1. The high metal content in this report is expected as part of breaking in a new motor. It will go down (SHOULD GO DOWN) with subsequent analysis after the oil change (see the comments in the report at the bottom).

2. Where can this be done? Blackstone Labs / Speediagnostix are two options people use. I'm sure others may be mentioned in this thread and/or findable in a Google search.

3. Why oil analysis? I got the bug after watching this video on YouTube talking about motor oil and engines: Sitting Down With Lake Speed Jr. - The Truth About Oil Change Intervals and Analysis

4. The nitty gritty of it all is oil changes are always cheaper than engine changes.

Looks normal and actually good for 1k miles. That's when I do my first changes on a new engine, too.

The oil is in good shape and while high, the iron and silicon are not bad, considering break-in. I think mine were higher in my 2018 JL. I'll have to go back and look.

I did my 2nd change at 3k, so 2k on the next oil run, and then again at 5k. I then did several runs around 7k to 8k, based on the OLM, but settled back to 5k changes, which is what I do on the Gladiator, too. The oil always comes back in great shape at 5k, which for me, is long enough.

How do you do a oil analysis? And how much does it cost?

I’ve got all my oil changes from 42k miles, it’s great to go back and look at it all. Only gripe is I wish the turnaround was a bit quicker. If a sample shows bad wear, you could already be 2-3k miles further with more damage. Recommend everyone do this for peace of mind

Where and how do you get this done? Cost?

Forgive me but I'm assuming the standard testing at $40?

I used to own an airplane and would have Blackstone do an analysis every oil change(every 50 hours). Good thing to do. I just crossed 15,000 miles but am somewhat tempted to start doing this myself, mainly just the data nerd in me liking to see what's going on.

Also, for those with knowledge or who have used both, any preference over Blackstone for some other company such as what the OP posted? I've got no complaints about what Blackstone did, just curious if there's a compelling reason to pick one over the other.
