Hello all. I have a rubicon and am considering upgrading to a skinny 35” tire on the factory rims. I drive my gladiator a lot cause I work out of town. My question is if I do that am I gonna regret my decision? How much of a hit am I really gonna take in mpg? All opinions and everything in between are welcome.

The bigger hit in MPG comes with lifting the Jeep. 35s on stock Rubicon didn't have much effect on my Rubicon JL. When I lifted it and put on heavier bumpers, that's when the hit happened.

Thanks for the reply.
That’s kinda what I thought but was trying to get an idea from people who have done it.

I'm planning to go up to 35s when these stock 33s wear out. My goal is to use the stock 17x7.5" wheels that came on my Mojave, and not add a lift kit. Recalibration of the speedometer is understood. My reference material is here: https://www.drivingline.com/articles/trail-tested-jeep-gladiator-rubicon-35s-no-lift/ -- -- -- The first article/video is about the Nitto, and the second is about the Toyo tire. I'm leaning toward the 35/11.5/R17 Toyo Open Country A/T IIIs.

I went wheeling last weekend with the new 35" BFG KO2's with a 2.5" front level but no rear lift. If you value your rear fenders, they will not fit with the stock bump stops. I had to back out as the rear tires were wedged against the stock flairs. It is a wonder they didn't break.

I'll be looking into a small rear spring lift and longer bump stops.

The wheels are 17x9 with 0mm offset, tires are 315/70r17 BFG KO2.

That is the same setup I just purchased. What is your back spacing, mine is 5 inch with 0 offset. Also is your Gladiator a Rubicon or different model?

Looking to upgrade my Rubicon from 33’s to 35’s. Any reason to go to an 8.5 inch wide rim (assuming the right offsets, etc) other than a larger supply of tires and a slightly wider tread profile.

I’ve seen the AEV Pintler advertised as a fit that will pretty much fit the tire/rim combo into a stock setting under the fender. Will their offset and backspace settings of +25m and 5.77" work with any rim?

No reason, matter of preference. I have BFG KO2 35x12.5x17 on stock wheels without any issues offroading with my 21 Mojave.
