Southeast Michigan, Irish Hills area. A good mix of hills and flat. All on road. Lots of 2 lane road driving with 55 mph speed limits. Easy driving, not much hard accelerating.
Similar to where I’m at here in WI.

Do you have any further pros / cons that you’ve noticed going to 35s with 3.73 gears that you can share? Also what tire brand do you have? Is your JT lifted/leveled/stock?

Thanks again.

Acceleration is still decent. It won't win many red light races, but it still accelerates well enough to merge fairly easily on the highway.

I think it looks better, but that is of course subjective.

A little harder to get in and out of, but it has the factory steps which help a little.

Braking seems fine. I was worried it would be compromised too much, but I think the brakes are still adequate.

Tires are 35x12.50x20 Goodyear Ultraterrain. It's a Discount Tire exclusive tire. They have been excellent. Good traction on slick roads. Excellent wear, still lots of tread left after 43k miles. They are pretty quiet. Price is better than most other name brand 35s.

I have a 2.5" Clayton Ride Right lift that gave more like 3.5"-4" of actual lift.

Here's a pic comparing new to now:

I've got patagonia xt 37s on my rubicon with no issues. 8th on the interstate and will still get 21mpg on smaller highways.

I'm running 37's on 4.10 gears no regear and I've pulled a 22ft 4078lb camper and now a 6000lb dry weight camper. I get about 10 mpg towing and 17.2-18 when I'm not towing. Good enough for me to not regear. Been on 37's for almost 3 years now, no issues. You will be fine on 35's

Interesting that if you choose the 35” tire option on a wrangler you get 4:56 gears…

Why do you want it to shift out of 6th. gear and not down shift on hills? That's what a transmission is supposed to do. You put heavy MT 35" tires on and it's just compensating. Turn up the music, have a few drinks and have some fun.

I have just purchased a used 2022 Jeep Gladiator Mojave with a 3" lift kit, 37" tires nitto m/t, and does have rack and a ridiculous amount of lights on the outaide(possible wind resistance. I live in Florida so it is flat and hot. The guy bought vehicle put 3k miles on it, it has 4k miles on it now and spent 49k in upgrades(have the receipts although 6k of it was labor). It was a great deal BUT this thing gets 13 mpg and I never see 8th gear no matter what, and sometimes not even 7th at speed limits. By reading this forum I assume I need to regear to 4.88 or 5.13. Seems like everyone else with 37's are getting MUCH better fuel economy than me. It actually gets better fuel economy in city rather than highway, by like 2 mpg.It does have tazer mini and speedo does read correct. Any suggestions?

Nice truck. I'd drive that all day long. ?
How does it run? If you're really concerned about milage, I would start by weighing everything, because that's what's causing your poor economy, dragging all that weight around. At sea level, that truck should run very well. I would find a scale, (truck stop, port of entry, bale fill) weigh the truck, then test drive a new, stock Mojave and weigh it as well.

You are correct it must be very heavy. I will look around for a place to weigh it. It has alot of "stuff" goin on that I am sure weighs alot, 2.5 ton tie rod and drag link Apex, track bars Yeti, Fox adjustable steering stabilizer. The 3" lift is rock crawler and it has these thick control arms that look like they weigh alot. BUT to answer your question as far as holding the road and easy to drive, I do not believe it could be any better. Apparently it was done right as far as the suspension system goes.

Also Fuel economy is more of a by product of the problem. Concerned about at highway speeds never seeing 8th gear and rarely 7th. Wouldnt that be bad on the powertrain because it is working alot harder? That would be the largest concern for me. It is not my daily driver but I find myself avoid taking on the highways because the noise levels, one thing I didnt mention it has a Flowmaster American Thunder dual exhaust which is quite loud which I dont dislike but it is a droner at constant speed, which drives me nuts. I know I will change it soon and that will fix that. Just wanted to explain my first statement.

Anytime you add weight or tow load, it's going to be harder on powertrain components, but being in 6th. gear, that's just the transmission keeping the engine in the power band so you're not lugging the hell out of it.

I say something seems weird. ?

I have a Rubicon...
I dont get it. I have 4.10's and my rig sees 7th and 8th all the time. I took a pic today just in case I see another thread like this. I live in WV there are very few flat or straight roads in this state. I say it may be wind drag or power issue. Also remember the more you push down on the throttle the more torque it will give you thus translating into 6th gear on the highway.
Here is the pic I took today doing 65mph. And in no way shape or form was this road flat. In the 8th gear imagine I let off the fuel in the 7th gear image I'm on the fuel.

I actually tried today. On fairly flat road at 65mph I set cruise control and manually shifted to 7th and it was fine BUT shifting to 8th, it will not maintain speed, it slowly creeps down from there. I am sure it just all the "stuff" that has been done to it, has made it very heavy and maybe all the rigid light bars and floodlights on it and don't forget the rack as well. Going to have to regear.

A lot of good comments here and here’s my $0.02

when I upgraded my suspension and tires I spent a considerable amount of time looking at tire weight. As you might expect going from the factory FALKEN tires to 35’s of another brand resulted in potentially a lot of added rotational mass and coming from a Porsche racing background I understood how much even a pound or so of additional weight per corner will affect performance. Now my Gladiator is not in the same category as my Spyder but the physics are the same.

So I ended up going with Toyo‘s in a 11.5x35 and have been very happy with the result. In fact, given the Toyo’s are actually lighter that the Falkens I feel that they have significantly helped to mitigate the increase in diameter.

I just returned form a month long Overlanding trip from NC to Colorado, Utah and New Mexico traveling over 4500 miles in a very heavy rig and routinely was in 8th gear in the highway, unless I hit significant head winds like we did in Kansas where we ended up in 5/6 gear most of the time an our mileage dropped to about 12.5 mpg!

I did use the AEV Procal to change the cpu settings on the jeep and verified the accuracy, after several attempts, to get the speedometer correct. Keep in mind that even though you have 35” tires your actual rotational diameter will be less.

So in short I’m probably going to stay with my 4:10 gears. If for some reason I do change my mind I would just go up to 4:56’s. However, Brad at Trail Recon is building out his latest project, a JTR and he went with 5:13’s on 35’s. His reasoning is that in addition to building out a heavy rig he intends to tow a first aid trailer with it as well. Check him out if you don’t already follow him.
I have been looking for the lightest possible 35's for mine for this same reason. Are the Toyo's still on a 17-inch rim? Im only finding 35 by 11.5 Toyo's in 20 inch diameter.
