How difficult is it to install? Is it fairly plug and play or is it something that most people would need to hire a professional to install it?

Easy. Remove the bezel, 4 screws and connect all the labeled wires as described in the instructions.
Or watch the you tube videos they posted.
I was done in 30 min - very easy.

Steering wheel and on screen controls as I said earlier in the thread
If your Jeep has the factory radio knobs (volume / tuning / etc.) on the dash with your HVAC controls, they also work with the JL3001.

Just a suggestion! Have you ever looked at Seicane? Installed a unit in our JKU and we love it. They have a model for the JL/JT. Seeing as how I have experience with it in our JKU, if I didn't have the 8.4" in the JT, I would probably get one. It's cheaper and you can add on options. Just a suggestion for everyone.

Hi all, just installed the JL3001, pretty easy install following the videos from their site. I ordered my JT with the upgraded Alpine system and now I have great sound and a great interface. The JL3001 has Android 9 and I've been able to download and use music, video and navigation apps.

The only issue I've had is with the GoPro app, I'm unable to connect my camera (Hero7 silver) to the system. The app sees the wifi coming out of the camera but it just doesn't pair with the camera.

Any of you who have the JL3001 and a GoPro, were you able to pair the two devices together?

I want to view the camera feed on the bigger screen and be able to take pictures and video as well.

Thanks!

Yes it(along with the hard buttons) lights up when you lights are on(or you can set it all the time. ) And you can set what ever color you want.

I didn't care for it at first but i dont even notice it anymore

Are you now able to control the a/c with the radio? Do the knobs underneath still work?

Do you have access to diagnostic and off road apps similar to the 8.4 unit?

Do you have to flash anything with a Tazer?

If you have Auto climate control then you'll have full control with the radio, yes the knobs still work. If you have manual controls, you'll have some function available in the head unit, like rear defrost, recirc door, ac command, heated seats and wheel...basically anything thats a push button on the factory controller

It's has diag capabilities with the torque app and the Bluetooth dongle they supply. I've never used it though so I cant give input

No, the tazer has nothing to do with this radio

I have a question for those who have the insane audio. Would you recommend this as an upgrade to someone putting a whole system in the Jeep? I have the 7” display but I’m putting in a JL vx1000/5i, Focal ps165f component speakers, and a Kicker 10” L7T in a Ground Shaker box. Just didn’t know if this would be better than using the stock stereo. Seeing as the Insane audio will have the RCA outputs for the speakers and subwoofer.

I do listen to satellite radio but I have no problem using the app since my cell phone has unlimited data.

I had the 5in radio, not the 7. I don't know that I would have switched if I had the 7(I have no experience with it to judge).
But bigger is better right ...the screen is about 9.5inches viewable (diagonal)

That being said, I really do like the IA unit. The sound/signal quality out of the rca is very strong/clean. (and is adjustable, although that may not be public info).
I prefer RCA's to a high level input or adapters but that's just me, I have no info that says one is better than the other. (And I did run the PAC CH4 adapter with my 5in without any problem)

This unit can do A LOT. Much more than. I have done with it so far.

As for Surius radio, that app is sufficient it's just not as stream lined as it should be and that's why I wish there was a dedicated sat tuner. But it works as is

I just upgraded from the 7", it's a no brainer. Way better all the way around. I have gone to using bluetooth from my phone to the unit for siriusxm.

Thanks for the information. I have decided after I bought the pac ch4 adapter that I’m going to install the Stinger Heigh10. Seems to be more of what I’m looking for in a touch screen.
