Question I did the aux battery delete...meaning pulled the 42 fuse and removed the negative battery cable! I install a H7 main battery and the ESS still engages. Did I miss something?

Thanks

Dont want to deal with the aux battery after hearing all the stories of people being stranded and not being able to accept a "jump" due to aux battery failure.

Why can't you remove the aux and use a better, large capacity main better and get the same or better results?

That is internet hysteria that just keeps getting spread by the uninformed. The vehicle gives you plenty of indication that the batteries need attention before it gets to that point.

The ESS system is always active and cannot be disabled or removed. The button on the dash, and other options available, just prevent it from turning the engine off when ESS calls for it.

My 22 6speed ess no longer functions. Its just always disabled. I have no warning aside from ess not ready. Completely stock. I have no need to fix it so ive just left as is for the past 6 months....so yeah it can be disabled.

It is most likely due to the Aux battery failing the startup test. Mine has been that way for about six months.

The ESS system is not disabled, just the part that attempts to shut down the engine.

Depending on the state the Aux battery is in, it will continue as-is for quite some time, or will eventually draw the Main battery down to where it won't start.

That's not disabled, that's called "broken".

You've been hearing bad stories from people who don't know or understand the real causes. Remember, the internet amplifies everything 100 fold.
Many of those simply didn't know how to properly jump a vehicle, or blamed the wrong thing.

You'd be smart to diagnose the troubles that are causing it to not work. Those can range from serious to trivial. If it's not working, you have a problem that could leave you in deeper trouble in the future. (like being stuck with a non-starting Jeep)

Like you've already seen - that aux battery bypass/delete only removes that battery - it makes no other changes.

When I did my full aux battery delete, I just use a start/stop eliminator device that remembers the last switch position so you do not have to reset it every time. Plugs in series with the Security Gateway Module harness.

https://www.autostopeliminator.com/collections/jeep/products/2020-jeep-gladiator-autostop-eliminator

There is cheaper clone devices on Amazon but I cannot give opinion to the quality of those.
Ditto, same device, aux batt gone, and very happy with the results. When the OEM battery dies I will go to the larger one that fills the tray. I am guessing i will soon be hearing about the starters dying from ESS and the endless number of starts. Jus' sayin'.

They're actually designed to handle it.

These systems are not new.

Jus' sayin'.

LOL, sorry, but not that again.
No, you won't. I've posted interviews with designers, engineers, and actual real starter people.
these have been in use since 2015, many now have hundreds of thousands of miles on them.
There's no problem.
These are not your grandfather's FoMoCo 4.5" direct drive field coil starter with bronze bushings for bearings and copper commutators (I work on starters, restoration)
These were introduced (with ESS) in 2015 for the 2016 model year. That means they have been on the road for 8 years, starting with Grand Cherokees and others, introduced into Wrangler in about 2018, and now the Gladiator starting in 2019 for the 2020 model year.
There's a long history with them, a lot of miles in many different vehicles- Wrangler, Gladiator, Challenger, Grand Cherokee and more.
No, there won't be starter troubles beyond what is normal for electric devices.
Too much BS "information" out there.
Just sayin' - as a person involved with starters and who has studied the progress of starters over the years, including these.
