Aux battery delete???

no difference in start up except that the Bronco accelerates when you push the skinny pedal.

Took my wife's JLU to the dealership today to deal with the transmission leak - for the 3rd time.
Not unexpected, I was in the right lane to take the entrance to the freeway through town and others were in the left lane hoping to zip around, cut in and cut ahead to get "one more car ahead" on the ramp to the freeway.
I wish I would have had that Jeep in 4hi auto as when I mashed it, I spun the rear tires - but was beating the guy in the left lane until another car pulled in from a side street just ahead of me and I had to let up. I suspect he was rather surprised that I'd beat him handily at the other stops prior to that one. (oh, it's a 4xe, so a bit more hp and torque than the hemi in that little JLU Rubicon)
Was sort of fun to hear the rear tires squeal as I took off. Shhhhhh! Don't tell my wife!!!!!!!!

Ha, the "startup sequence" . Just be glad we're not driving Bronco's. To hear them tell it , they have to hit like 10 buttons to setup stuff before driving off. They complain about it being like running thru a startup sequence for flying a plane! HA, LOL.

I test drove quit a few Broncos and you just push crank it and go. Not sure what buttons you got to push other than start

You got me, just relaying some comments I read in the Bronco forum.

With all the modes they have I don't doubt it though. Similar to my Supra. With all the adaptive stuff and modes , if you like it to drive a certain way then you get used to setting all the modes when you get in. Can you just get in and go? Sure......

Haha, I don't get the whole "my time is more important than yours" attitude most folks have when driving.

I'm sure you've heard that there's been more than a few 4xe's with tranny leaks and it sounds like a bunch of them tie back to porosity issues in the trans. Casting.

And yes, I've seen posts about it in the Wrangler forums and the 4xe forums. someone put up a poll months back and the direction of that poll isn't exactly comforting.
But, there's now a case open through Jeep cares and thankfully, I have not heard back from the dealer yet saying "it's ready to pick up" because I might not be really patient with that sort of a call. I'd much rather hear "we have to replace the transmission, it will be a couple of weeks.
Every person who has posted in the forums/threads I've watched have said the exact same thing - the fix was a transmission.

Anyway - man that thing is fun to drive. Too bad it's hers and not mine.

I am considering once I get one, to eventually pull the aux and move to a dual battery setup. There is a Gen 3 thing I would look into, think that would be a better setup especially with me wanting to be able to charge a scooter for the wife later on down the line. Would have more capacity in the system to make up for the charging.

There's bound to be improvements and tweaks in the next generation of those dual battery setups.
That's a great thought - that could help charge such equipment. What a fitting use for the Jeep and it's accessories.

Question I did the aux battery delete...meaning pulled the 42 fuse and removed the negative battery cable! I install a H7 main battery and the ESS still engages. Did I miss something?

Unfortunately that will not disable it. Best bet is to get a Tazer I use it on all my Jeeps.

As for the delete and battery upgrade, it's the best thing I did to my 2021 EcoDiesel. It's like a new truck. Especially with cold starts.

Or spend hundreds less and push that button at each start or buy a simple small device from a forum sponsor to electronically do it for you.

I did change tire size from 33 to 35's. I did purchase a Tazer and have used it to set the 35" tires, however, I did just have a shop regear to 4.88 for the 35's. They used an hp tuner ( I think), while the Tazer was active. So I am not sure if the tuners did not correlate, or if the ESS was on its way out simultaneously.

Why 4.88 for 35s? thats over gearing, will help performace wise but MPG will take a hit. 4.56 is the usual gear ratio for 35s. Even the 35" tire package from Jeep has 4.56

I think our factory charging systems suck. I’ve been driving for nearly 40 years and can someone tell me why, with this JT, I need to have a battery charger close by to keep these batteries charged? I have never in all my other miles put behind me in other vehicles, easily 30 plus vehicles in my care, have I needed to be so “up” on the batteries. ??

A couple months back i turfed both my factory batteries for a big ass H7 Optima yellow top and upgraded the aux (non Mopar) with real hope that id finally be able to uninstall my battery tender charger and just forget about having to maintain the charge on both. I was having to hook up the charger every 3-4 days to bring the 12.4v back up to 12.7-13v. The wife and I got tired of the ritual so I convinced her we needed to roll the dice on the most expensively convenient available batteries I could find and did the root canal from up top and yanked them both. Laid out a good $800+ Canadian dollars and got it done. I decided to keep the aux system because, in my mind, I was of the belief, ‘there’s nothing wrong with the system as it is engineered. The batteries are bad’. So while everybody else was turfing the little guy, I decided to keep it and see what happens.

The dash charge indicator eluded to nothing wrong, showing typical charge numbers 13-14ishV. I also independently charged both batteries to 13+v, uninstalled the tender and reset the IBS and put both these bad boys in there place.

I forgot about them for the first 3 weeks since putting them in because were suppose to forget about them and drove all over mid to southern Alberta enjoying the summer and Fall. After about the first 3 weeks or so I had this little inclination to hook up the multimeter and do a load test.

(Someone recently told me I have problems because I go looking for it.. hmmmm, I am on top of most things and maybe that even explains why our health and financial systems are so bad…??) ‘just leave it alone and the whole world would just heal and recover on its own

My load test showed 12.4v?! What? So I hooked up my charger until it shut itself off and said full. Another 2- 3 weeks go by and the load test says 12.4v again. Then ….? the wife caught me taking off the battery charger the other morning and because she doesn’t understand just how finicky this system is, put on her army boots and reminded me of all the hundreds of dollars we paid to have the best batteries put in and what the frI$&k I was doing with having to charge them again??!

IDK. I tried to help her understand the data that said the old system needed to be charged every 3-4 days and now the new system needs it every 2-3 weeks….. it wasn’t a pleasant conversation to say the least and here I am defending and deflecting because I don’t get it.

I have a theory… the battery monitoring system, “the brain” or what ever, doesn’t like the batteries to be “full” so it dumps the charge out some ‘back door’ to keep them …depleted for some good reason. Maybe full batteries all the time have a greater chance to self ignite ??.

Unless they have made some major changes in Optima batteries, your problems will continue. Optima used to be a great battery untile they moved their factories from the US to Mexico, I don't know if it is QC issues but they changed their warranty from 4 years to 2 yearsl My last two yellow tops in my Wrangler using a famous name dual battery set up both crapped out in less than a year. Were replaced under warranty and in a year both went bad again. Warranty only relaces once to went to Ddyssey and no issues since.

They have three-year warranties (36 months).

And I’ve been running a yellow top myself for the better part of a decade with no problems. Sorry you had a bad experience, but that doesn’t mean everybody has a bad experience.

It's a personal choice. I thought about 4.56 but, they say it's better to go 1 higher than to wish you did. Luckily I have a better gas mileage vehicle for long distances. I was getting 18 with the 3.73 and now it looks like it will be around 16 - 17. I am still in break in mode so it's hard to tell the exact number.

First thing I did after purchasing my new to me JTM was delete the POS ESS setup. Pulled the aux batt, pulled F42, and purchased a new main batt.
It was “Jeep Certified” used, but both batteries were crap. Of course the dealership said bring it in, let us look at it. Um…….NO! Been there, done that.
Anyway, Just installed this thing in my new (used) JTM. To soon for long term review, but I love it so far! Works as advertised. Thanks for the link.

I guess you know more than a jeep engineer does. I heard there hiring. These post are laughable!
