Have you priced an Optima battery? The difference between a yellow top and LiPo isn’t very much
Yes. In fact I just installed an Odyssey within the last couple months. My thoughts are as they become more mainstream they will go down in price. Also if there are any bugs in using them in this manner those will be worked out before I put my money on them. Don’t get me wrong, I like LiPo4 batteries. They power my house every day, I just need to be as confident in them as I am with current vehicle battery technology before I drive them 50-75 miles out into the desert and rely on them to get me home without incident.

I disconnected aux battery neg lead at main battery and taped it off. no issues except warning light on dash. why do I need to pull fuse #42? will this make the light go away or something more?

I did and do not have the light on the dash. Everything functions as normal.

I know it has been a month since this was commented on but I finally did the aux battery delete. I took out the aux battery and routed the positive wires up to the main battery. I connected the negative to the frame ground and it worked perfectly. So essentially the gladiator thinks the main battery is both batteries. It works!

I yanked the wire, taped it and pulled #42 with zero lights after finding out the hard way not to jump start the BMW from the Jeep. (yes, the BMW tried to kill the Jeep. Damned Germans.)

That said I have some service work I'll be doing the weekend and on my list of shit is to actually remove the aux battery. I'm just debating if I want to spend even more money this week and swap to an Odyssey and be done with it. It'll save me having to take the fender apart.

I left mine for now because unsure what the dealer here will say to a missing one. If they decide to be snarky I’d rather have the battery there for any kind of warranty work I don’t think I can handle. My Artec fender liners weren’t too bad to take off for access. Odyessy battery has done well in mine. I rarely think about it unless one of these threads get brought to the top.

Fair. I'm out of warranty and have the ESS turned off via the Tazer.

So far since the unfortunate WTF is wrong with my Jeep incident last month, I haven't given it any thought either. But here I am this morning before leaving for appointments looking at battery systems and my ADHD kicked in.

This is so true. I put a cheap Walmart battery in mine after reading about batteries not lasting long in the gladiator no matter what brand or type you put in. I don't go glamping over landing or any of that stuff so a basic battery works. Mostly have my ESS off with the taser but do occasionally turn it on when I get into some bad traffic. It works with the Walmart battery just as it was before. Daily driving it probably helps keep the health of the battery up too though.
