Ok my smart cap weighs 215#
Did you weigh your RSI cap, weight is 175-180lbs. with windows, shipping weight is 215-221 lbs. I have an RSI from very first run in 2020, has held up great, strong as heck, no leaks. Only problem I had was first ones had aluminum hinges and one of my rear hatch hinges corroded, they send me a full replacement set of upgraded hinges no charge in two days. I don't know where my packing slip for my cap with windows is but the weight including packing was 221 lbs. Packing is huge heavy boxes back then.
RLD, Alu cab, RSI are very similar, as are the fiberglass offerings. I preferred the RSI over the other two metal tops, seemed less like a square box, windows were nicer, and although they strugged as a new start up during the covid craze, they have been very responsive after the sale, and are coming out with latches that can open from inside , which for a guy that sleeps inside the cap would be nice, real nice.....Jack

I would love to have that camper. or one just like it
Yeah, many people do. I've had so many people who want to buy it it's not funny, to the point of harassment. Scamp had or has a list of owners showing of them for advertising. The first years I had it a number of people even tried to get stupid with me on buying it from me. A few tried to threatening me with a couple who flat out said they were going to steal it. My responses were not always nice or diplomatic, to a point of explanation of what I did in the past and current employment plus the detail of being in a "highly secured gated" community at the time. Recently I've had some just drive up to "ask" or otherwise. Between it and my pontoon boat. ? It seems that 16ft is the ideal size of a lot of things. ?

I had a Leer cap on my Power Wagon for 12 years. Good build quality. But the clear coat started to come off around year 6. By the time I traded it in for the JT in '22. Most of the clear coat was gone on the top.

Depends on what you're going to do with it. I've had an ARE cap for a couple years and it's held up great to off-roading, roads trips and inclement weather. I don't load the roof up with a lot of stuff but I do have a Rhino Rack on it for things I don't want in the bed for trips like Maxxtraxx, Gazelle ground tent, firewood etc.

I ordered mine 4/2021 and it didn’t show up until 8/2021 so I waited 4 months. I’d really like a Super Pacific canopy camper but that’s a whole other league and money. The RSI caps are cool and a lot of folks use them. I’m sure it will do fine for you!

They must have had a run on them. The lead time on mine was three weeks, and it delivered as scheduled. I ordered it the first week in April and they installed it three weeks later.

Hi There!

I am reaching out to read any reviews anyone has about the GAIA Cab for the Gladiator. Looking around at the Cab market for the truck bed and not sure what cab is quality and what is trash. GAIA looks super sick and versatile but unsure as reviews are super limited and the custom shop I would order through in NJ has only done a small number of these style cab.

What are some of the best cabs out there?

would appreciate some recommendations.
I decided on the softopper, with the Datin Fab rack. It seems to provide the most options. I don’t live in DC, so I don’t have theft as a driver for the decision. It is light weight, and stops rain better than the factory hard top 🤣
I could add a RTT easily, but prefer the cot tent. Darche eclipse 270° awning attached quic.

My dealer where I am was less than helpful as well. That could have had something o do with it.

I ordered mine from the dealer over the phone. I never even went to the dealer until it came in and they installed it. I had GREAT service from them.

My experience was over the phone as well. They also quoted me $4300 for the basic package, no real add-ons which I thought was pretty high. At the end of the day I got the smartcap for that price, didn't have to wait, and should I decide to, be able to put a rtt on top. Admittedly, I like the looks of the ARE better though.

That WAS high. I ordered most of the options (carpet, sliding side windows, single sliding center window, center latch hardware,) and they got me out the door for $2800 installed. I didn't think that was bad at all. And they did a really nice job on the install.
