what’s the max we can lower the drive shaft, I have rough country 6” lift and I’m getting terrible clunk when accelerating. It’s almost like the torque grabbing my rear axle and creaking type noise. Wonder if I dropped the carrier bearing lower if the drive line angles would be better and not yank the drive shaft so much

6”?! Wow. My rear is around 4.5” I’d estimate. I have the carrier bearing spacer dropping it that much, but also adjusted the rear control arms and replaced the driveshaft. The dana 1350 driveshaft I have is rated for 6.6”, and is bolt on.

If we are running a 3.5 Clayton lift with all Control, would it still be recommended to run one of these spacers? Couldn’t we just properly adjust control arms

Definitely. The recommendation is to run a carrier bearing spacer with lifts larger than 2”. That’s per Dana Spicer.

About to lift my 22 Willys diesel. These things got rediculously expensive! Dana wants 110$ and rock jock is 80$! I’ll be finding some cheaper spacers or see if there is some aluminum bar at work for sure

Crazy. I think I got the Dana for $45 from 4wp in ‘22. Jeez.

I’ve noticed a lot of parts are exponentially more expensive now than 2-3 years ago. Nothing changed with quality or materials, just big price hikes. Was watching a video about a metalcloak track bar, guy got it for 189$ in ‘23, just paid 246$ this month

It’s been a few months but I found the Teraflex 1.5” spacer for less than $30 on amazon. That’s what I’m using with my Clayton 3.5” lift.

Here’s a picture of the one from Adam’s. The offset makes a tone of difference with clearance. The reason for the angle of the rear section is droop. It’s on a lift getting new rear end bearings and seals in march.

I just had the local shop go over the JT before my trip to Moab. I've had a Clayton Overland 2.5+ lift on for over a year. Initially the take was that I didn't need the carrier drop, but the tech this time said "short term you'll be OK, but long term you should install a carrier bearing drop kit". Better safe than sorry is my motto - so....$80 for the Rock Jock drop kit, and $60 for them to drop it while doing an oil change. Rides smooth up to 65. Haven't got it up to interstate speeds yet.

SOOOO easy to do yourself. It’ll take them 19 seconds.

Yeah...I figured that out after reading this thread. LOL. Still, $60 is not bad, and the way my neck has been acting up right before my trip to Moab, I figure it was worth it. 👍
