The SM is playing it safe and poorly paraphrasing the wording of the owners manual.

page 389
" . If you buy good quality fuel and follow the cold weather advice above, fuel conditioners should not be required in your vehicle. "

"Commercially available fuel additives are not necessary for the proper operation of your diesel engine. "

it doesn't say anything about warranty.

The use of "Should" is a suggestion not a requirement from a legal wording perspective.

It just says additives are not necessary. Which is different legally then saying don't use XYZ or must or shall use XYZ.
At the power plant. We had an 8 hour class on word meanings. Someone got confused between "shall" and "should" one time. Cost the plant a couple of bucks in fines from the gov't. Gov't regs are a bitch sometimes in trying to figure on what you can, and can not do.

Ok, so to sum things up...
  1. Add 1-2 oz of EDA (your choice) with each full-up.
  2. Don't mess with anything under the hood and wait for the recall... roughly August.
  3. Easy on the MOD's until post-recall.
  4. Make sure my AAA membership (100 mi towing) is up to date.
That about do it?

I got the recall notice today and the bit about no fix available is a nice touch.

The failures I’ve seen on the CP4.2 are due to improper fuel filter changes and not priming / purging the fuel system.
That's why I just took mine in today for a fuel filter change. Let the dealer do it so it's documented.
I was also informed I had the tailgate recall. ?

@Rusty PW mentioned it a few days ago. Something about Gladiators with the power lock tailgate. I didn't get into it much with the service advisor as I'm going to have them do it whenever the fuel pump is done.

There is a piece for the power lock in the tail gate getting replaced. When it fails. you can't open the tail gate.

I just got my notice today as well. Had a fuel filter on hand, and just changed oil at 15k, but was planning to change fuel filter at 20k miles because I've read air/purge during replacement is hard on the pumps. May try to change it as parts become available for the recall, just before I take it in for the swap.

Just got my recall letter today....
My VIN was not in the original list - but it is an early '22, so I already assumed it was affected anyway...
tick-toc , tick-toc. ?

I wonder if they will build my diesel JT with a good or recalled fuel pump?
